Principals Message

Message from the Principal Team

Today, while students enjoyed a day at home, our staff engaged in a powerful professional learning event, the West Gippsland Principals Network Big Day Out.  This event was attended by over 500 educators across West Gippsland, with Many schools closing for the day to enable teachers to attend.  We understand that school closure days can be challenging for families, and we truly appreciate your support in allowing our teachers this valuable time to learn and grow.

The day featured leading experts in education presenting on high-impact teaching practices, including cognitive science, reading comprehension, classroom management, and student wellbeing. These evidence-based approaches directly support the work we are doing at Trafalgar Primary School to create structured, engaging, and effective learning environments for all students.

Our teachers attended keynotes and workshops by renowned speakers, including Tanya Serry, Pamela Snow, and Reid Smith, gaining insights that will help refine our instructional practices. By investing in ongoing teacher development, we ensure that every child benefits from evidence-based teaching and learning strategies in the classroom.

Looking ahead, we have a busy week coming up! A reminder that Monday is the Labour Day public holiday, so school resumes on Tuesday, March 11. Our Year 3 and Year 5 students will also begin NAPLAN testing, and we wish them all the best as they demonstrate their learning.

There’s a lot happening at Trafalgar Primary School right now! Be sure to check out the School and Student News sections in this newsletter for more updates.

Enjoy the long weekend, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday!

Sincerely,

Cameron Nicholls & Naomi Landmeter
