First Progress Reports (GPAs) for 2025 Are Here!
We are excited to share that the first round of Progress Reports (GPAs) for 2025 has been released! These reports provide valuable insight into how students are engaging with their learning, demonstrating safe and respectful behaviour, and contributing to a positive school environment.
What Do GPAs Show?
Each student receives a Grade Point Average (GPA), which reflects their learning behaviours in alignment with our school values:
✔ Be Safe
✔ Be Respectful
✔ Be a Learner
Students are assessed on a 5-point scale, ranging from Always/Exemplary to Rarely/Concerning. This helps us monitor progress and ensure students are supported in developing strong learning behaviours.
You can read more about how GPAs are calculated and interpreted here.
Celebrating Success!
- 49% of students received a GPA All-Star Award in this first round! This is a fantastic reflection of the positive start students have made this year and the safe, respectful learning environment we are building together.
- 2% of students have been identified as At Risk, and we are working closely with these students and their families to provide targeted support and help them improve their learning behaviours.
🗣️ Talking About Your Child’s GPA
Progress Reports are a great tool to discuss your child’s effort and behaviour at school. Here are some tips for having a positive conversation about their GPA:
🔹 Celebrate strengths – Acknowledge areas where your child is excelling.
🔹 Identify areas for growth – If there are lower ratings, ask what they can do differently next month.
🔹 Set goals together – Encourage your child to reflect and set a goal for improvement before the next GPA.
🔹 Work with teachers – If you have concerns, contact your child’s teacher for guidance on how to support them at home.
How Are GPAs Used?
GPAs play an important role at Trafalgar Primary School. They are used to:
✅ Track student progress and help us provide extra support where needed.
✅ Select students for leadership roles, sports teams, and clubs.
✅ Support students with individual learning plans and enable access to additional supports.
We encourage all families to review their child’s Progress Report and use it as a starting point for discussions about their learning. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Thank you for your ongoing support in making Trafalgar Primary a safe, respectful, and engaging learning community!

Uralla Takes the Trophy in a Fantastic Clean Up Australia Day Effort!
Last Friday, Trafalgar Primary School came together to make a difference in our community as part of Schools Clean Up Australia Day. With gloves on and bags in hand, students and staff worked together to tidy up our school grounds and local areas, showing their commitment to sustainability and environmental care.
The event kicked off at 2:30pm, with all students gathering on the oval. The Environmental Captains and House Captains provided instructions and distributed equipment, ensuring everyone was ready for action.
- Foundation – Year 2 focused on cleaning different sections of the school grounds, ensuring our playgrounds, gardens, and pathways were spotless.
- Year 3/4 tackled the area behind the school, including spaces near the kindergarten and surrounding fence line.
- Year 5/6 ventured beyond the school grounds, walking through the High School oval to Balfour Park, picking up rubbish along School Road on their way back.
With the support of the Student Leadership Team, who managed House-coloured rubbish bags, students worked diligently to collect as much rubbish as possible. It was incredible to see the enthusiasm, teamwork, and dedication of our young environmental champions!
At 3:15pm, all groups returned to the oval to proudly display their collected rubbish in front of their House banners. The competition was tight, but after careful measurement, one House emerged victorious…
Congratulations to Uralla (Yellow House) for collecting the most rubbish and taking home the Clean Up Australia Day Perpetual Trophy!
A huge thank you to all students, staff, and our dedicated House and Environmental Captains for making this event such a success. Your efforts have made our school and local community cleaner and greener! Let’s continue to show pride in our environment and keep Trafalgar Primary School looking fantastic every day!
Expanded Support Through the Tutor Learning Initiative
The Tutor Learning Initiative (TLI) has been highly successful at Trafalgar Primary School in providing targeted, small-group learning support for students needing additional assistance in literacy and numeracy. In 2025, the program is focussed on ensuring that students significantly below their age-expected level of learning receive structured intervention.
Under the updated policy, students in who have been identified through NAPLAN as requiring additional support will automatically be eligible for TLI tutoring. Additionally, students in Foundation to Year 3can also be included based on teacher assessments of their literacy and numeracy needs.
This initiative ensures that every student who requires support has access to focused, small-group learning sessions, giving them the skills and confidence to excel in their studies. TLI sessions will commence in early March, and families of participating students will be notified of their scheduled support times.
Welcoming Third-Party Service Providers to Our School
In addition to strengthening academic support, we are also pleased to offer continued access to third-party service providers, including NDIS-funded therapists, private practitioners, and other specialist support professionals who wish to work with students on-site. We understand that student development extends beyond the classroom, and many children benefit from specialized services such as therapy, speech pathology, and occupational therapy.
To align with Department of Education policies, third-party providers are welcome to deliver their services at our school, provided that appropriate agreements are in place. This allows students to access vital support while minimising disruptions to learning and school routines.
If your child receives support through an NDIS-funded therapist, private provider, or other specialist service, and you would like to explore the possibility of sessions at school, we encourage you to contact our leadership team. We will work with families and providers to ensure a seamless process that prioritizes student well-being and aligns with our school’s learning environment.
Looking Ahead
At Trafalgar Primary School, we recognize that every child learns differently and has unique needs. By expanding the Tutor Learning Initiative and facilitating third-party provider access, we are strengthening our commitment to inclusive education and ensuring every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
If you have any questions about these initiatives, please reach out to our school office. We look forward to working together to support every student’s success!

First Aid Update
Did you know?
As we gather new Asthma Plans for 2025, here's a quick reminder about the importance of spacers!
A common comment I hear is, "My child doesn't need a spacer; they've outgrown it." However, using a puffer without a spacer means the medication isn’t getting where it needs to go – it could be escaping from your mouth or even ending up in your stomach!
By taking several slow breaths through the spacer after each puff, more medication reaches the lungs – exactly where it’s needed.
Keep an eye out for emails from the Sickbay about medication and plan expirations.
Thanks,
Sickbay Sam
