Year 7 Rubicon Camp
Year 7 Humanities
As part of their Humanities studies, Year 7s are learning about hydroelectricity and constructing their own hydro dam models with Mr Lazzaro, and student teacher Mr Coban.
What's Cooking
Year 9s cooking some delicious chicken parmigiana’ s with wedges. Their stomachs were full and they were pretty impressed with their efforts. All made from scratch.
Rowing
Students from years 9 and 10 participated in a Learn to Row Program at Lake Nagambie over the past three weeks. Lake Eildon Rowing Club, Nagambie Rowing Club and Seymour College staff combined their equipment, club house and expertise to provide a safe environment for students to have a go at rowing and sculling.
The students travelled by bus once a week, for three weeks, to Nagambie Rowing Club where Sue and Dave Andrews gave them lessons on rowing techniques.
Seymour College teachers Leigh McIntyre, Daniel Thompson and Mario Laing supervised and coached the students from coaching boats.
The students were great at listening and learning this most wonderful skill and some students were seen flying on the water by the end of the third session.
We hope to repeat these excursions next term and continue to grow the level of interest and engagement. Thanks to all who participated in this event.
Secondary Reporting Update
In 2025 Seymour College introduced continuous assessment and reporting. This means we are making the move away from teacher comments on Semester reports and instead teachers are to provide ongoing feedback through comments on Compass Learning Tasks throughout the year.
The purpose of this is to provide students and their families with timely results and feedback, to encourage the students learning and development throughout the Semester and to engage parents in their child’s learning journey.
If your child is in Year 7-10, you should expect to see a learning task on compass with feedback around Week 5 and 10 of this term and then again halfway through Term 2 (Please note, due to different lengths of units it might be slightly later or earlier than this). By the end of the Semester your child should have a minimum of 3 learning tasks on compass (2 for their elective subjects).
Year 11 & 12 students will get feedback on compass as they complete outcomes in their VCE/VM subjects.
If you are unsure how to log into Compass please contact the front office on 57711300 and they will be able to assist you.
If you have any questions about continuous reporting please contact Janita Trickey (Leading Teacher of Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting 7-12) via email, janita.trickey@education.vic.gov.au
