Alice's Message

Hi everyone, Alice here, my turn to write in the Newsletter,

Over the past week or so we have had over 80% of our families meet with teaching teams to attend our term SSG’s. During this important meeting we have been discussing and planning the young person’s three Individual Learning Goals and getting to know each other better, learning more about the strengths and future plans for our students. Thank you for taking the time and for sharing all the important information you have with us. Also, classes are settled for now, with minimal changes needed from the start of the year.

We have also mentioned before that we are now involved in a new strength-based funding model- Disability Inclusion. We are slowly entering this new model and during term one this year we have begun to conduct Disability Inclusion Profile meetings. These meetings have been very positive as they are all about the strengths and aspirations of our students and those families that have attended have said that they are very positive and have enjoyed attending them. So, in the future you may get an invite to attend a DIP meeting.

Last Tuesday and next Tuesday all our staff are completing CUST training- Cultural Understanding Safety Training- this training is to continue to increase our understanding of Koorie culture, history and experiences. This training will help our staff to foster a culturally inclusive environment and also build on the work already being done to embed Indigenous perspectives into our school curriculum and school community. So far, the training has been very interesting.

Car Loop

Thank you for your patience with our car loop, in particular our new Prep Families. We understand this process works very well, however at times unpredictable things happen out of our control, and this can sometimes delay the times of entry and exiting.  We aim to have all students out by 3.20pm.

 A few reminders about this:

Drop off is from 9am and pick up from 3pm. Please come into the loop, follow the instructions of the lollipop staff and stay in your car until the whistle is blown. Once the whistle is blown you may get out of your car and wait for a staff member to collect or drop off your young person. Also, if you do not have a sign with your child’s name displayed at the front of your, can you please assist us with placing one at the front or let our office know and we will make one up.

Thanks, Alice
