Britton Shield Swimming
On Friday 28 February, boys from Years 2 to 6 competed in the Britton Shield Swimming Competition held at Brisbane Boys' College. Our team rose to the challenge and emerged as champions, bringing home the trophy.
We are incredibly proud of their dedication and commitment during training in the lead-up to the event. Their determination, effort, and outstanding performances on the day were truly commendable, securing a well-deserved victory. Congratulations to all the boys on this fantastic achievement!
NAPLAN Preparation and Testing
Testing will occur on Thursday 13 March, Friday 14 March and Monday 17 March during Lessons 1 and 2 and/or 3 and 4.
Please make sure that your child has working WIRED HEADPHONES and a fully charged device for each of these days.
Please also encourage them to eat a good breakfast, drink plenty of water and have a good night’s sleep beforehand. We advise you not to listen to radio news broadcasts on the morning of testing and to arrive at school in plenty of time.
Illegal Parking
Parking across our neighbours’ driveways is not permitted.
We have observed increasing instances of illegal and inappropriate parking during the drop-off and pick-up times in the surrounding streets of the College.
Ensuring the safety of our children and the comfort of our neighbours is a priority that requires our collective effort. Unfortunately, improper parking practices are creating hazards for both students and local residents. These issues include obstructing traffic flow, reducing visibility for drivers and pedestrians, and increasing the risk of accidents. Additionally, our neighbours are facing difficulties due to blocked driveways and restricted access, which affects their daily routines and quality of life.
We kindly remind everyone to adhere to the parking regulations and guidelines in place.
This includes:
Avoiding parking in restricted zones (yellow lines) or partially blocking driveways
Utilising designated drop-off and pick-up areas only
Observing all traffic signs and signals to ensure safe and smooth operations during busy times
Please find further explanations of Traffic Rules here, from Brisbane City Council.
Your cooperation is essential in maintaining a safe environment for our children and respecting the needs of our local community. We encourage all parents to park in designated areas and if you are walking into the campus to drop off or collect your child, please do not park in or opposite Circular Drive.
Let us all work together to uphold these standards and demonstrate our commitment to the wellbeing of our school and neighbourhood.
Student Absence Without Reason - Text Notifications to Parents
As part of our duty of care, if a student is marked absent without a reason, a system generated text message is sent from Clayfield College Student Services advising of the student’s absence, along with a request for the parent to contact the College.
Recently, we have noticed an increase in unexplained absences, with some parents not responding to these notifications. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students, we kindly ask parents to take prompt action when an unexplained absence notification text is received.
Thank you for your cooperation and support.

This week we have welcomed Miss Tiarna Herbert to our Prep teaching team. After teaching for several years in Cairns as a Prep Teacher, Miss Herbert returned to her family in Brisbane last year, following an exciting few months of international travel. Her enthusiasm, warmth and vibrancy have been felt in the Prep K classroom this week as she has worked alongside Mrs McNiff, Mrs Bertie and Mrs Ryan in getting to know the students and families. Welcome to our Clayfield family, Miss Herbert!
