Junior School

Boys and Technology

iPads have been a great source of excitement since our rollout in week two. The way in which boys engage with their learning, their ability to create and collaborate and their digital capabilities contribute to a liberating education.

Our approach to technology use focuses on education and responsibility, rather than purely restriction-based measures. When the boys are using their device in class or on the school’s network, they are accessing a safe, secure network which allows them to be curious and creative learners in a controlled digital environment. Our network filters, monitoring systems, and app restrictions help ensure a safe digital environment during school hours.

We rely on parents to manage device usage at home in a way that aligns with their family’s expectations. As a College, our ethos is built on guiding students to make responsible choices rather than relying solely on restrictions. Whilst we provide a structured and secure learning environment at school, we recognize that families have different approaches to managing technology at home.

To support this, we encourage strategies such as:

  • Keeping iPads in bag until they are home (not using in car)

  • Using devices in shared spaces like the kitchen or living room

  • Setting clear rules about screen time and usage

  • Having open conversations about online safety and appropriate content

Student Achievement

Congratulations to Callum Frasar who competed in the West Australian Surf Life Saving Championships over the long weekend at Trigg beach. Callum competed in three events. The highlight was in the under 10 surf team, where Callum and his team won the silver medal.

Callum also signed up to the Starlight Super Swim Challenge. In the month of February, he swam 22km and raised $2,060 much of which was from the generosity of his Trinity classmates.  So many of the boys donated their pocket money for this great cause. Congratulations Callum and thank you to all members of our community who showed the TC spirit and supported Callum and this worthy cause.

International Women’s Day

Today, we celebrated International Women’s Day. This morning, we heard from some boys about female role models in their life. Allowing our students to reflect on the impact that women have on their life is important whilst discussing ways in which we continue to foster healthy respectful relationships with everyone.

We are grateful to all those who supported our theme of wearing pink to raise money for the Share the Dignity organization. Thank you to all the outstanding female role models in our community, and those who continue to demonstrate respectful relationships to our boys whilst promoting equality.

God Bless,

Mr James McPherson
