Sustainability Leaders 2025

Sustainability Leaders Report

Who are the Sustainability leaders?

Jed, Jaxson, Tommie, Flynn

How are you showing leadership as sustainability leaders?

We will show leadership by showing the little kids what to do in the garden, and help them set up the compost bins.

Tell us a bit about our Soft Plastics Recycling Program. What is soft plastic recycling?

We are collecting the soft plastics that the school collects with the packets that the little kids bring to school. Recycling soft plastic stops it from going into the ocean and landfill.

Which classes are involved?

The whole school is involved in the soft plastic recycling. They all have a blue bin to place their soft plastics in, which we will collect every Thursday.

What items are we collecting?

Chips packets, tiny teddy packets, chocolate wrappers, muesli bar packet wrappers, noodle packets, roll up packets, zip lock bags and yoghurt squeeze packets (washed out) and many more.

What have you done to establish this new program?

We have gone to classes and explained to them what we are doing. We have given them a soft plastic bin and a poster showing what things they can put in the bin.

What do we do with soft plastics we collect?

We take them to the soft plastic collection at either Glebe Hill or the Mornington Waste Transfer Station.

What will soft plastics be recycled into?

The soft plastic will be recycled into everyday items like chairs and tables.
