Principal's message

ANZAC Day

On Wednesday, we commemorated the brave men and women who fought and continue to fight in wars around the world with our ANZAC Day Service. We were honoured to have John Delaney from Mortdale RSL share his experiences of war and the importance of ANZAC day.

We greatly thank Mr Delaney and Jameson for sharing their stories at the service. It was a beautiful acknowledgement of the sacrifices soldiers and their families made to allow us to live in a free country today.

Thank you to Mrs Parsons-Tran for coordinating the service and working with our student leadership team who conducted this for us.

ySafe

It was great to have David Smith visit from ySafe to have an educational session with all students in Years 1-6, executive staff and parents to provide strategies and resources around online safety and social media. If you were unable to attend or would like additional resources, I urge you to visit the Peakhurst Public School Online Safety Hub (click for the link) as a great way to access valuable resources.

Walk Safely to School Day

Walk Safely to School Day will be held on Friday 16 May 2025. This day is a great opportunity for families to walk to school together and have conversations about being a safe road user.

ALWAYS hold your child’s hand until they are at least 8 years old. Closely supervise them until they are at least 10 years old.

ALWAYS hold your child's hand:

  • when on the footpath
  • when crossing the road or
  • when in a car park

Cross Country - Rescheduled

On Monday 12th May, we look forward to a fantastic morning of fun, fitness, and community spirit—and we can’t wait to see our wonderful parents there to cheer the students on!

Drop off and pick up reminders

Please be mindful of our neighbours when dropping off and picking up your children to not block driveways. A few reminders below:

  • Parking signs are planned with children’s safety in mind.
  • Park safely and legally, even if it means walking further to the school gate.
  • Always park and turn legally around the school. U-turns and three-point turns are dangerous.
  • Never double park as it puts children at risk.
  • Don’t park across the school driveway or the entrance to the school car park.
  • Make sure your child uses the ‘Safety Door’ (rear kerb side door) to get in and out of the vehicle.
  • Model safe and considerate behaviour for your child – they learn from you.
  • It’s always a good idea to use the drop off and pick up area suggested by your school. This will help keep all children as safe as possible during the busiest times of the school day.

Student Behaviour Strategy

As a school we have implemented our School Behaviour Support and Management Plan aligned to the Department of Education Student Behaviour Policy this year. In this process we reviewed our practice with feedback from the community in 2024 and would like to share with you our PBL flowchart.

The full School Behaviour Support and Management Plan can be found on the school website.

Complaints handling

A reminder that there is a process within the school for managing and handling complaints.

In the first instance, please speak to your class teacher about the matter. If it is unable to be resolved, the next step is to speak to the Assistant Principal for your child’s stage. Most concerns and issues are resolved at this level.

Should the matter not be resolved or if it is of a highly sensitive nature, please contact the the Principal who can help to resolve the matter. The best way to do this is in writing to the school email address.

All concerns are managed in a highly confidential manner following the department’s complaints management policy. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.

P&C Thank you

A big thank you to the P&C Committee for all of their planning and preparation regarding the Mother's Day stall held yesterday. There were many parents that gave up their time to purchase, package and sell gifts on the day.

I wish all of our mothers, grandparents and important women in our lives a wonderful Mother's Day this Sunday.
