This week in Ed in Faith, we’ve been learning about Lent. Lent is a special time where we give up something, like an hour of screen time, or chocolate, to honour Jesus and how he wandered in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights, before he was crucified. On Ash Wednesday, we had a whole school Mass, where everyone had a cross made of ashes drawn on their foreheads from Father. The ashes are made from burned palm leaves, that are then blessed and left to cool. The day before Ash Wednesday is Shrove Tuesday, but some people call it Pancake Tuesday, so on Friday, we all made pancakes! Everyone loved all of the Lent-related activities that we did in class this week, and we can’t wait to learn more!
The past few weeks in writing we have been learning about biographies. It's basically when someone is writing about another person's life. You have to write their full names, early life, accomplishments, challenges, important quotes, and reasons why they are famous and a good role model. We then made a biography cube of it and drew a self portrait of that person. For this week's big write, we are going to be writing a creative story about someone who inspires us. This will be based on a role model we have researched in class.
This past week in inquiry we have been looking at the difference between arguments and disagreements. Students were given scenarios and had to write a script for an argument and a disagreement to suit, they then role played their script to the class. We all had so much fun doing this.
This week for Funfit we did dancing, our dancing teacher’s name is Luke. The lesson went for about 40 minutes and everyone had a wonderful time. We did some yoga, pilates and a few warm ups that include zumba like moves. When Luke was teaching us moves he put such amazing songs on. We all had a great time together and Miss Margert was helping everyone with the moves and to have a good time. Everyone hopes to see Luke again and have a wonderful time doing some dance fit moves.
