Supporting Staff Wellbeing Through Healthy Communication Practices

As part of our ongoing commitment to nurturing the wellbeing of our Marist Family, the College has developed a set of communication practices designed to promote timely, respectful, and appropriate communication. In an increasingly connected world, we recognise the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between professional responsibilities and personal time for all members of our community.

Recent national Right to Disconnect legislation provides a helpful framework to ensure that staff are able to step away from work-related communication outside their designated working hours. In line with this, the College has developed Right to Disconnect Protocols to support staff wellbeing and to encourage the use of asynchronous communication wherever possible.

To help uphold these expectations, we kindly ask families to be mindful of the following:

The College maintains a reasonable expectation that staff will reply to communication from parents, students, colleagues, and others during their designated working hours:

  • Teaching Staff: 7:30am – 4:00pm on school days
  • Non‑teaching Staff: During their normal contracted/agreed working hours and days

Where contact is made, staff will aim to respond within two working days.

We thank our families for supporting these guidelines, which are designed to safeguard staff wellbeing, ensure clarity around communication expectations, and strengthen the collaborative relationships that sit at the heart of our Marist community.

The College looks forward to working with all members of our Marist Family as we implement these important practices.

AIC Sport Code of Conduct

Fundamental to the AIC, is our belief in inclusion and fellowship and the role we each play in fostering this. As a parent, spectator or official, we need to ensure we are welcoming to all involved and treat them with the greatest levels of respect, protecting the rights, dignity and worth of every person regardless of diversity.  The AIC provides a Code of Conduct for parents/guardians, spectators, coaches and officials which can be found here.

The AIC supports all efforts to remove poor behaviour from sporting events. In the event that a parent or spectator feels the need to notify the AIC of inappropriate behaviour, they should firstly notify the venue official/College representative at the venue. Following this, any complaint should be then directed to respective sport coordinator, College Head of Sport or the appropriate member of the College Leadership Team.

Student Safety Around School – A Reminder to Families

To help keep all members of our school community safe, we would like to remind families of a few important expectations during drop-off and pick-up times.

The safety of our students, staff and families is always a priority. Recently, several near misses have been reported in the pool carpark area during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times.

We would like to remind all parents and carers that the pool carpark is a staff carpark only and is not a designated student drop-off or pick-up area. Due to limited visibility and frequent vehicle movement, this space is not safe for students entering or exiting vehicles.

We ask all families to please use the designated student drop-off and pick-up zones when arriving at or leaving the school.

In addition, please ensure that you adhere to the posted speed limits when driving on school grounds and in surrounding areas. Slowing down and remaining vigilant during these busy times helps keep everyone in our community safe.

We appreciate your cooperation and support in helping us maintain a safe environment for all members of our school community.

Winter Uniform Reminder – Term 2

As we prepare for Term 2, we would like to remind all parents and students that full winter uniform is required throughout Terms 2 and 3.

Years 5 - 10 students are to wear the long sleeve grey shirt, grey shorts or long grey pants, school tie and blazer.

Years 11–12 students are to wear the long sleeve blue shirt, long grey pants, school tie and blazer.

This uniform should be worn neatly each day, with shirts tucked in and ties correctly fastened. Students must also wear their blazer to and from school each day. Please ensure all uniform items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

The Uniform Shop will close for the school holidays on Wednesday 1 April at 4:00pm and will reopen on Monday 20 April from 7:30am to 4:00pm. It will also be open on the first day of Term 2, Tuesday 21 April, from 7:30am to 10:30am.
