Journeying Together in Christ

Living Our Cultural Covenant: What Do We Do?

Our response to this question is shaped by our three “Guiding Lights”: championing Catholic education, prioritising learner growth, and honouring solidarity and subsidiarity

Championing Catholic Education

As a Catholic school, we are committed to an education grounded in dignity, compassion, and the Gospel message of love. This is expressed daily through prayer, Christian meditation, and weekly religious education. Our Term 1 Mass was a wonderful celebration of our faith. Our fundraising for Caritas has also been a great success, thanks to the generosity of families and the enthusiasm of the students.

Prioritising Learner Growth

We believe every child deserves to grow academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. Growth occurs when learning is meaningful, connected to life experiences, and supported by a sense of belonging. By delivering our academic programs with fidelity, using evidence‑based practice, and staying aligned with curriculum expectations, we ensure consistency across the school. We regularly gather and respond to learning data, plan for individual needs, and create classrooms where every child feels known, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Honouring Solidarity and Subsidiarity

Solidarity calls us to stand with others, while subsidiarity ensures decisions are made by those closest to the situation. These principles guide how we serve and lead. Large‑scale decisions are made at diocesan level, while decisions specific to St Luke’s are made locally. This balance ensures support for all schools while empowering each community to meet its own needs.

As Term 1 concludes, we recognise how these commitments shape our journey. Our Cultural Covenant invites us into ongoing reflection—deepening our Catholic identity, nurturing learner growth, and strengthening solidarity. We also reflect on the joy found in the everyday moments that build our community.

These priorities are especially visible on our final day of Term 1 as we honour our Catholic identity and prepare for Easter, the most significant event in our liturgical year. Chris Summers, the student leaders, and Connie Austen’s class will lead our Easter liturgy at 11:45 a.m. The Easter raffle, colouring competition, and Terrifik Kids assembly will follow, at 1.15 pm in the stadium. The Terrifik Kids awards celebrate four students each term for outstanding personal and social growth.

As we look ahead to Term 2, we do so with gratitude—for the relationships we continue to build, the learning we nurture, and the community spirit that guides us with hope and purpose. We look forward to seeing our families, and particularly our students back at St Luke's on Tuesday 21st April for the start of a new term.

We wish everyone a safe and blessed Easter break.
