Clare's message........

Harmony and Joy....
What a beautiful way to start the week- wearing orange to brighten our day and to focus on our own unique story- personally, as a family and as a community. We began the day in prayer, giving thanks for you and me before heading to our classrooms to read some picture story books to get us into the headspace and heartspace for Harmony Day.
Gathering into our three house teams- Staunton, D'Prazer and Egan- we began rotations that saw us exploring what makes us special and unique, finding others who make up our diverse school community and then dancing til we dropped. Our ever generous P&F organised morning tea for the children and the staff, which was greatly appreciated by all. The Dance Party at recess was a hit and even had Debbie grooving!
After lunch, a chill time back in classrooms before an afternoon assembly to hear representatives from each class talk about the take home messages they had from the day. We finished with Tayla from the Vinnie's Youth Team who spoke to our children about the valuable work St Vincent de Paul do to support those not as fortunate as us. Our School Captains and Faith and Mission leaders then announce a Pyjama Day happening in Term 2. All we'll need is a gold coin and our PJs to make a difference.
My thanks to Gabrielle Carter for her careful attention to every detail to make this year's Harmony Day a real day to enJOY.

Last week, as part of Catholic Education Week, we opened our classrooms to parents and carers coming in to share our Getting Ready to Learn routine. It was wonderful having many people do this once, twice or more over the week. On Friday, Nina Grieve and our newest LSO, SiSi, took ten Year 6 leaders into St Patrick's Cathedral for a Melbourne archdiocesan schools mass. It was overflowing with educators and students from across Melbourne. Georgia and Tom, our school captains proudly walked up a school 'flag' at the beginning of mass. Afterwards, the children enjoyed a fun filled day of playing games in the park and dancing to some great music all organised by many secondary school students. It is one of my favourite excursions on the school calendar and the children returned with many stories to tell of the great day they had.
We have a really great final week coming up...
