Musical - Alice in Wonderland JNR
After months of rehearsals, dedication, and teamwork, Alice in Wonderland JNR finally came to life - and what an unforgettable experience it was for everyone involved.
This production was more than just a musical. It was the result of countless Tuesday and Friday afternoon rehearsals from 3:30pm to 5:30pm, where all cast members worked tirelessly on learning music, refining scenes and mastering choreography. What started as scattered lines, unfamiliar songs, and tentative movements slowly transformed into a confident and cohesive performance. As rehearsals progressed, we grew more comfortable in our roles, supporting one another every step of the way.
Behind the scenes on performance nights, the atmosphere was just as energetic as what the audience saw on stage. While guests enjoyed snacks, bars and a Wonderland‑inspired magical drink out front courtesy of our P&F Association, the cast was backstage juggling makeup, hair, costumes and props in preparation to bring the chaotic fantasy of Wonderland to life. Despite the intense heat and humidity backstage, spirits remained high and everyone pushed through to deliver their best performance.
Putting together a production of this scale was no easy task, and the final result reflected how far the cast and crew had come. Every performer should feel incredibly proud of the commitment, resilience, and effort they demonstrated throughout the entire process.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Kristin, our director, for teaching the groovy and unique choreography, developing engaging dialogue, and helping bring each character’s personality to life. A special thank you also goes to Ms Menzies, who supported the ensemble from the beginning of the year, helping students familiarise themselves with their roles while providing constant encouragement and care.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible tech crew, staff, and everyone working behind the scenes. From managing lighting and microphones to handling quick costume changes, back‑up vocals, and organising props - including the infamous rainbow socks that somehow ended up everywhere - all efforts ensured the show ran smoothly.
We would also like to express sincere gratitude to the Drama teachers, Mr Walker and Mr Ash, whose guidance, support, and passion for the arts played a vital role in shaping the production. Their encouragement helped us build confidence, develop performance skills, and believe in our ability to succeed on stage.
The success of Alice in Wonderland JNR was a true example of collaboration. Through teamwork, patience, and shared commitment, students and staff came together to create a performance that reflected creativity, effort and a love for the performing arts.
Once again, congratulations to all for making Alice in Wonderland JNR a memorable and magical production that will be remembered by the school community for years to come.
