Mitchell takes Silver in the SA Schools Sport Year 7/8 Tennis Championship
Mitchell D (Year 8) was nominated to compete in the Year 7/8 Boys School Sport SA Tennis Champion last week and "keen to compete with players from other schools and gain further competitive experience".
He competed in the singles tournament against students from a range of South Australian High schools, playing four matches before reaching the final, with scores of 6-0, 6-3, 6-4 and 6-2.
In the final match, he was leading early with 3-2 when, unfortunately, the strings on his racket snapped, and he had to switch to an unfamiliar racket to continue the game. Despite the setback, he achieved secondary place overall and was awarded the Silver Singles Tournament Medal for Tier 4.
Well done Mitchell!
