Careers

The start of the new school year sees many careers related opportunities available to students.
The Regional Industry Education Partnership (RIEP) offers many opportunities to students in our school, so far this year they have included:
- 12 students attending Made for a Trade which is being held every Friday of Term 1 at the Young TAFE campus. Today these students received new work boots, shirt and pants so they have the appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) to undertake learning activities in the Trades Industry.
- Running the Be a Health Hero program in Wagga every term this year, students can complete an expression of interest (EOI) to attend this program, the dates are:
- PROGRAM 1 - Tuesday the 11th of March 2025 to Friday the 14th of March 2025
- PROGRAM 2 -Tuesday the 3rd of June to Friday the 6th of June 2025
- PROGRAM 3 - Tuesday the 5th of August to Friday the 8th of August 2025
- PROGRAM 4 - Tuesday the 2nd of September to Friday the 5th of September 2025
- Students in Years 9 and 10 who are interested in a career in Health (i.e. Nurse, Paramedic, Doctor, Allied Health) and can attend one of the above dates are encouraged to see Miss Moorby for more information.
This year will see a new cohort of Year 10 students undertake work experience. This is a great opportunity for students to try a career that they may be considering to undertake post school. I encourage parents to have a discussion with their child about possible work places and vocations that are appropriate for them.
Some students have already applied and received an offer for work experience, one student will be attending work experience at Taronga Zoo Sydney in June working in the marine enclosure.
UAC applications for our current Year 12 students will open later in the year, the dates are still to be advised from UAC.
We see our Year 12 students head off next week on an excursion to the University of Wollongong with their Year Advisors Mrs Taylor and Mr Corcoran. This is always a ly anticipated excursion every year, where students are able to get a taste of university life while attending sessions of their own choosing and interests around the campus.
