Coaches Corner

Get to know your coach!
We've had a few new coaches join RSC over the past couple of months. We want to give a very warm welcome to Matt Geddes, Ava Mountney and Lucy Woolard who will be working with our junior and competitive squads this term. All 3 coaches are former performance swimmers with RSC and have transitioned from Learn to Swim teachers to swim coaches. Matt, Ava and Lucy have all been involved in the club leadership team during their time as swimmers with RSC and will be wonderful coaches and mentors for our swimmers. Matt and Ava have finished their Competitive Strokes qualification and Lucy is currently working on hers.
We have asked our new coaches a few questions so you can get to know them a little better! This week's feature coach is Ava Mountney:
I coach: Novice, Blue, Silver, Gold and Platinum
How I got into coaching: I trained under Andrew for multiple years and after I graduated High School he invited me to start training as a junior coach!
Favorite stroke and race: I am a sprinter, so anything under 200m is my favorite race and I love Freestyle and Backstroke
Favorite food: Any Mexican food (as long as it’s not spicy) and frozen yoghurt, but not together!
Dream holiday destination: I would love to travel around Europe and see Italy, Greece and France
On the weekend I love to…. Spend time with my friends and family, go on a run, and read a good book or watch a tv show
A fun fact about me: Even though I’m a swimmer, I have cut my head open twice, both in a pool!
