RSC Encouragement Meet- 16th Feb 2025 @ Aquanation

Our RSC Encouragement Meet is right around the corner! We can't wait to see all of our junior swimmers there, racing in our home pool!
Our Leadership Team and Performance swimmers will be helping to run the meet and you'll see them assisting with marshalling, check starting, lucky envelopes, catering, ribbons, etc. They are also doing the majority of the timekeeping on the day, which is a huge help! Thank you to the swimmers who are volunteering their time!
Meet Information:
You can access the meet program, session report and athlete roster on our website: Events for February 2025
A few tips:
- Arrive early to get a parking spot
- Unless you are helping with the meet, please sit in the stands rather than on pool deck near the swimmers. Coaches will be available to help your swimmer with marshalling etc. Parents lingering on pool deck create congestion and make it difficult for our check starter and officials to do their job. Swimmers will all sit together on the cement steps, opposite the grandstand, with the coaches
- Make sure your swimmers bring plenty of water and healthy snacks to have throughout the meet to keep hydrated and energized.
- Help your swimmer to write their event information on their arm with a sharpie before arriving at the meet so they have the information available and know what events, heats and lanes they are in and can show a coach if necessary. Example: you have booked your child to swim in the following events:
- Event 2, 50m Freestyle
- Event 8, 50m Backstroke
- Even 12, 50m Breaststroke
Go to the meet program for your session (#1 for swimmers 12/U and #2 for swimmers 13/O), look up these events, find your child’s name and write down the following information: Event, Heat and Lane.
It will look something like this…
50 Free E2 H3 L4
50 Back E8 H2 L1
50 Breast E12 H1 L6 ⇐ This is what you can choose to write on arm.
**If you’ve never done this before your swimmer can ask one of the more senior swimmers to help them or a coach!
Arrival time: 12:25pm
Dryland warm up: 12:30pm
Pool warm up: 1:00pm
Meet commences: 2:15pm
Coaches on deck: Brendan, Matt and Ava
Uniforms
Please come in your RSC polo (old or new is fine) and black pants or shorts for the meet. If this is your first time attending a meet, we don't expect your swimmer to have the full RSC uniform, however swimmers must wear an RSC cap. If you need to purchase a cap, please go to the clubroom on Sunday and there will be someone there who can help you purchase one ($15). If you are interested in purchasing any uniform items, you can also enquire in the clubroom. If your swimmer intends on attending meets in the future, we would advise that you purchase some uniform items, as advertised in our new uniform expectations.
Timekeeping Roster
We are running 8 lanes and each lane needs 2 timekeepers. Our wonderful leadership team and performance swimmers have kindly volunteered to do most of our timekeeping and other duties at the meet. There are just 2 lanes that need we will need some help from parents
RSC volunteers will be walking around to provide you with refreshments throughout the meet. Please bring your own water bottle, which can be refilled by a volunteer if needed. Timekeeping gives you the best seat in the house, and seats in the grandstand will be in short supply.
The RSC Encouragement Meet is one of our 4 annual fundraising events, and we rely on our volunteers and families to help out. We have a team of volunteers that have already put in many hours organizing the meet as well as a team that will be running the meet, organizing catering, marshalling and check starting as well as awarding medals. Running a meet of this size is quite a large undertaking and we appreciate your help in ensuring that our swimmers and swimmers from visiting clubs have a great time and that the event runs smoothly.
Never done timekeeping before? No problem! It’s not hard and there will be someone there to explain what to do. You will be in teams of 2 so there will always be someone who has done it before who can help out.
