Student Leaders' Training Day

On the 30th of January, the 2025 student leaders enjoyed an engaging session with Burn Bright, in a workshop to improve their leadership skills.

The day consisted of answering questions, ice-breakers, listening to each other, and overall a keenness to share stories, laugh, learn and serve Killester College.

We’d like to thank the organisers of the Burn Bright Workshop, Bonnie and Mel, who made the day very interactive, fun and inspiring. We all left the training day feeling equipped with new skills and visions for our leadership roles. From sharing stories, laughter and ideas, it is safe to say that we all are excited to work with our committees to bring life to our vision for the school.

We truly appreciate all those who organised this training day for us as it is an experience we will all take forward in our leadership journey.

Peer Support

Last week, the Year 7 students had their first session with their Year 10 Peer Support Leaders. This session was about getting to know one another and supporting our new members of the community.

This Program will continue to run for the first Semester.

St Anthony's Primary School 70th Anniversary

Last week representatives from Killester attended the St Anthony's Noble Park 70th Anniversary Mass. This year is also Killester's 70th Anniversary, so the Brigidine Sisters were certainly very busy establishing schools in 1955.

Mother Paula Walsh was the foundation Principal at St Anthony's, which was developed initially as an extension to the St Joseph's Springvale Parish.

By 1960 the school enrolment was 382. At that time all Catholic schools were administered by religious. Mother Brigida Nailon became the new Principal in 1961 . She recalled , "I think it's important to note the roles of the Parish councillors at the time. Of course the roles played by the women in the Mother's Club over the years has to be remembered and the team work displayed by the parish priests of Springvale, Clayton and Noble Park for administering the Sacraments."

We wish the community of St Anthony's a wonderful anniversary year.

Sports Leaders Breakfast

Recently, our Year 11 and 12 sports leaders attended the CGSAV sports leaders breakfast where they had the chance to meet and interact with students from other schools in the association.

They also enjoyed a talk from St Kilda AFL player, Georgia Patrikios.

Big thanks to our Sports Leaders for organising a fun lunchtime event for everyone to enjoy!

Opening School Mass

It was wonderful to see members of local faith communities join us for the Opening Mass last week. The theme for the year, "Hospitality", was the central focus of the prayers, processions and homily.

Our Year 7 students were also officially welcomed to the College. Congratulations to the Mission Team (especially Mrs Josie Dilettoso, AP: Faith and Mission) and the student Celebration Committee. Thanks also to Fr Brian, who is a very welcomed member of our community.

After the Mass everyone headed to the oval for a shared BBQ lunch, which everyone looks forward to each year.
