St Simon the Apostle
Year 3 - 6 Athletics Day
Once again, we look forward to our students engaging in our annual Year 3-6 athletics day. This year we will still be at Bill Sewart Athletics Track. The Year 3-6 Athletics Day will take place on Monday 3rd March.
Our aim of this excursion is to evaluate and measure the students fundamental motor skills with running, throwing and jumping in track and field events. We also wish to celebrate your student’s achievements displayed in various track and field events which they have learnt through the Physical Education program.
All students will wear their full sport uniform for the day and arrive at school between 8:30am and 8:40am. This is so classes can organise themselves quickly in the morning before departing on a bus at 9:00am for Bill Sewart Athletics Track.
If the weather or venue conditions are deemed undesirable, the event will be postponed to a later date in the term. This will be announced the day before the event through the SkoolBag app and through an Operoo message.
PARENT HELPERS:
Parents feel free to volunteer and join in the day to help the smooth running of events. Assistance is important for the day to run successfully.
If you are able to help on the day, please tick the event you are able to support us in. We ask that if you wish to help, this will be for the full day.
You will be contacted by Karl Camerino regarding helping on the day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

SSV Interschool Sport News & Key dates 2025
It is with great pleasure that I have been given the opportunity to step into the Sporting School Victoria District Coordinator position for 2025 for both the Wantirna and Scoresby Districts. My hope is to ensure all students competing in SSV events enjoy the experience and display their passion for sport. I wish all students come away from events proud of their achievements and effort and happy they “gave it a go”!

SSV Team Victoria Trials
The School Sport Victoria (SSV) Team Vic representative program provides a development platform for Victoria’s emerging elite student athletes to participate in the annual School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships for various sports such as AFL, Soccer, Netball, Basketball, Track and Field, Cross Country and many more sports.
It needs to be emphasised that these trials form part of School Sport Victoria’s Gifted and Talented program and are not ‘come and try’ opportunities.
Therefore, students who have been identified as suitable candidates to participate in the trials will receive a letter from Mr Karl Camerino to be taken home to their parents with information about the SSV Team Vic trials and registration to try out.
Endorsement is required from the school if selected for the trials. If your child has received a letter, it is up to parents to decide if they wish to register their child to try out. Endorsement will not be provided if your child has been registered without the school letter.
Further information can be found on the SSV Team Vic website.

Please contact Mr Karl Camerino if you have any questions or wish to know more about the trial process.
