The Stand Up Project
Dear APS families,
We will be launching "The Stand Up Project" (SUP) in our school this year, which is an innovative and comprehensive program designed to foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all our students. SUP is a whole-school approach that aims to reduce discrimination, harassment, and bullying within our school community.
It empowers teachers, students, and parents to work together to create a more inclusive and welcoming community. The program is designed and delivered by Dr Zach Grieg and Sam Hoath, both of whom have a host of experience in student empowerment and community wellbeing and engagement.
One of the key features that sets SUP apart is its peer-led approach. By involving students in the process, we aim to empower them to become upstanders and help create a more respectful and supportive environment for all.
This program will be delivered to our Year 5 + 6 students, and a group of student leaders will be selected, who will then lead the initiatives across the school. These students have been introduced to the program and are excited to learn more, and begin this journey next year.
Early in 2025, when the students are selected, there will be an information session for families in our community. We invite you to learn more about this program and engage with us in supporting our students as they embark on this journey. We are excited about the positive change this program can bring to our school and look forward to working together to make it a success.

Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our school community, and we look forward to learning together next year!
