A Day in May

Thursday 22nd May, 2025

Hi everyone, my name is Sam (one of the ENPS School Captains).

Next Thursday our school will be participating in A Day in May. This event is about raising awareness and money for research into children’s cancer.

Our school has been participating in this event for 10 years, after a former student, Marcus Rosin, was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Marcus went through five years of difficult and challenging treatment, but sadly he passed away in May 2014, at only nine years of age.

Marcus loved music and the performing arts. In his honour, our Performing Arts Hall is named after him. His parents, Marisa and Fabian also set up a fund to raise money for research into better treatments for kids diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, more children die from cancer than any other disease in Australia.

Six months after Marcus passed away, l was also diagnosed with cancer.

But for me, the cancer was in my left hand. I was only one year old, so luckily I can’t really remember the treatment, but I know it wasn’t a walk in the park. I had surgeries, chemo, blood transfusions, and dozens of scans, needles and other painful treatments. Despite all that, I feel very grateful to be with you today and to help our school remember Marcus.

We need better and kinder treatments for childhood cancer.

To do that we need more money for research. So I encourage everyone to get involved in A Day in May, where we are raising funds for the Marcus Rosin Fund. Buy a raffle ticket, and bring some gold coins on the day to support our school fundraiser.

Thanks everyone!

Volunteers Needed on Monday Morning

We are in need of some wonderful volunteers to help make some lolly bags.

If you are able to assist us, please head straight to the office on MONDAY 19th MAY at 8:45am to check in and be briefed on the details. The more help we have, the less time it will take.

Even if you can only help out for a short time, we would really appreciate it.

We need to make around 600 lolly bags!

Any questions, please feel free to pop by Tanya Ward's room - Foundation Room 23, opposite the playground.

Raffle Tickets

We now have not one, but TWO great prizes up for grabs. Grab your tickets to be in the running for a $100 voucher from Togah Boutique in Niddrie or a $50 LaManna voucher.

Tickets are available at the office for purchase so send some coins along with your child and they can purchase some tickets before they run out. The raffle will be drawn at assembly on Friday 23rd May.

Tickets are priced at $2 each or 3 for $5.

All money raised will go towards childhood cancer research.

Thank you in advance for your support.
