School Council

Hello ENPS families,
Term Two is in full swing with new opportunities to engage, learn and connect!
Walk-a-thon and Colour Run
Our strong sense of community was showcased at the Mother's Day Walk-a-thon and Colour Run last Friday! What an incredible day of fun and fitness, kicking off with students, staff and our VIPs lacing up their runners and strolling (and sprinting!) around the school grounds in honour of mums and mother figures in our lives. It was heart-warming to see so many families come together to celebrate the day and support our school and students.
This was followed by more celebration and school spirit at the Colour Run - a really joyful and vibrant afternoon, topped off with a fundraiser sausage sizzle! School Council members thoroughly enjoyed flipping sausages and it was great to see so many smiling faces lining up for a bite! A great opportunity to connect with the ENPS community, raise funds towards school resources and celebrate together.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone for your enthusiastic participation, generosity and support! Such events take hard work and dedication to organise so a massive shout out to the teachers and support staff for all your efforts to make the day huge success! (head over to the page in this newsletter for more highlights)
In Loving Memory of Gordon Bell
On Monday the 12th of May ENPS executives, teachers, staff, students, School Council members and ENPS families (past and present) all said our farewells to Gordon, alongside his beautiful family and friends. The service and tributes were a true celebration of his amazing life and all the love and joy he had. The celebrant on the day said it perfectly when she said an entire suburb has been moved by Gordon’s presence and him being in our lives.
ENPS had a huge impact on Gordon’s life just as he had a huge impact on our lives. Gordon was beautifully farewelled with Scotland the Brave played on the bagpipes. ENPS staff, students and council members stood bravely as we created a guard of honour to say our last goodbyes. Gordon’s final drive down McCulloch Street and over his crossing was a beautiful sentiment to just how much the school meant to him. Students and teachers at the school were able to wave to Gordon as he made his way past one last time. On behalf of all the ENPS School Council members - thank you for being in our lives Gordon.
Helping Hands Wanted – Lolly Bags!
Our next school event coming up is A Day in May where we remember little Marcus Rosin, happening next Thursday 22nd May.
Helping hands to pack lolly bags:
For this fun and wonderful day at school we are asking for volunteers to lend a hand and help to pack lolly bags this coming Monday 19th May at the school from 9am. You can come along for 30 minutes or stay for an hour. The more hands we can get involved the quicker it is. The task involves opening packs of lollies, sorting them into bundles and putting them into bags for the students to then purchase on the day with a gold coin that they bring in with them.
It's a wonderful time to get involved in a volunteer project and join many other parents in packing lolly bags. It’s a pretty sweet little job and lots of fun… some have even said it’s therapeutic!
Look for a Compass notification asking for helping hands to pack lolly bags and fill in the form to volunteer your time. Alternatively, if you can’t find the Compass notification send an email to essendon.north.ps@education.vic.gov.au letting us know that you can help out and you’ll be provided with more information. We hope to see you all there.
Celebrating Education Support Staff Day
Today we proudly celebrate Education Support Staff Day - a time to recognize the incredible dedication and hard work of our classroom aides, office staff, IT technicians, grounds keepers, school nurse, library technician and all support personnel. Their behind-the-scenes efforts help our school run smoothly and ensure that every student and teacher thrives.
School Council Meeting
The next School Council meeting will be held on Monday 19th May at 6:30pm. We are still looking out for parents to join the Sub-committees as it is a great way to get involved and share your ideas and contribute with your time and experience! Please reach out to any of the school council members: Ben Suter, Josh Briggs-Kelly, Jodie Elliot, Jenny Dinh, Mahmoud Amirghouli and Amrita Prasad.
Looking forward to continuing to work with the ENPS community and here’s to a great Term Two!
Warm regards,
ENPS School Council
