Fr William Cagney OMI advocated to government ministers, local business, developers and community members to make contributions to help raise the funds needed to build Mazenod College. Alan Bond, the managing director of Lesmurdie Heights, sent a letter to Fr Cagney OMI, confirming a £4000 contribution.

Fr William Cagney OMI sent a letter to the Superior General, Fr Théodore Labouré OMI in Rome, outlining the prospective foundation of Mazenod College in Lesmurdie.

On 7 May, the Department of Lands and Surveys sent an acknowledgement of receipt to Fr Cagney OMI, saying his application for land approval which was lodged on the 26 April 1965 will be sent for Executive Council approval.
