Right from the tip-off, Mazenod set the tone with strong defence, slick ball movement, and smart shot selection. The team led at the end of every quarter, showing consistency, determination, and excellent teamwork across the court.

Senior Soccer
Mazenodâs Senior Soccer team opened up its defence of the SSWA Soccer Championship against Al Ameen College. With some new faces in the team they knew it was going to be a tough game. However the team gelled together well, dominating from kick off to the final whistle. Running out 5-nil winners, it was a great start to the competition with fantastic passing and finishing in front of goal.
Â
The teams next game will be at home against Sevenoaks College.
2nd XVIII Football Mazenod v Swan ChristianÂ
The Mazenod 2nd XVIII went to Swan Christian College to play the first fixture of the season with high hopes. We started well, kicking the first goal off the boot of Hendrix C. After the initial goal the first half took a negative turn with SCC kicking the next 4 goals to our one to put them up by 15 points heading into the final half.
Â
Oliver W, John W and Brock P were a class above all game and really fired early in the second half to get us off to a flying start. Brock P booting two early goals after getting forward off the wing gave us early momentum which the players ran with and never looked back. In what was a brilliant showing of grit and determination we turned a 15 point deficit at the half into a 7 goal to 1 last half to see us run out as 20 point victors. Tristan S, Hudson R and Sam P with late goals sealed the victory for us after a brilliant showing from all players throughout the game.
First XVIII
In a spirited clash against Churchlands, the Mazenod AFL team delivered an impressive team performance, highlighted by skill, pressure and composure across four quarters.
Â
Callan M wasted no time setting the tone, slotting the opening goal of the game and lifting the energy of the entire side. From that moment on, Mazenod looked switched on and ready to play at a high standard.
Â
Bayden M proved dominant in the ruck, giving the midfield brigade first use of the ball and controlling the stoppages. Midfielders Morrison H, Ben M and Mitch G worked tirelessly through the centre, using the ball cleanly and linking up well to transition into attack. Nate T added polish and class, demonstrating his football smarts and composure under pressure.
Â
One of the standout features of Mazenodâs game was their relentless tackle pressure. From the first bounce to the final siren, the team upheld a high defensive standard, refusing to give Churchlands any easy possessions and forcing countless turnovers.
Â
It was a performance built on teamwork, effort and discipline â a strong reflection of the groupâs commitment and development. Mazenod will look to build on this momentum heading into their next fixture, after the spirited contest against Churchlands finished in a draw.
