News from the Rowing Sheds

Mr Andrew Pinelli, Rowing Coordinator

With the winter season upon us, things have been a little quieter at The Sheds. However, training and preparation for the 2025/2026 season are underway.

Awards Night

This Friday, we will celebrate the achievements of our rowers from last season. Several awards will be given out to highlight achievement and excellence, as well as persistence and resilience. We look forward to these celebrations, which will be shared in the next edition of The Fountain.

Winter training

Winter training started this week with three gym sessions per week offered to those students not involved in other sports throughout the winter. Thank you to those rowers who have signed up. If you haven't and are keen, please contact Mr Pinelli. Gym sessions will be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, starting around 4.15pm for an hour. There will be a charge for gym sessions payable towards the end of Term 2.

Starting later in May, we will be doing some on-water sessions on either Saturday or Sunday. Details are yet to be finalised, but will be communicated very soon.

New recruits

It has been exciting to offer some Try Rowing opportunities to students in the SMC community who have expressed an interest in rowing. We are also looking for new recruits in the older years. If you are currently in Years 9, 10, or 11 and would like to try rowing during the winter, please contact Mr Pinelli.
