Tennis champs go back-to-back

Our tennis champions of 2024 have done it again in 2025, securing victory in the SATIS Tennis Final against the visiting Marist College team. The final matches were hosted at Hutchins, where our St Mary’s College team displayed true sports professionalism, great skills and camaraderie.

This year, we welcomed Ellie Richardson (Year 8) to our First Grade Tennis team, completing our lineup alongside Alicia Dale (Year 12), Maria Kothris (Year 11), Matilda Greenhill (Year 10), and Imogen Ransley (Year 9). Each player won their singles and doubles matches, culminating in a final match score of 6-0 Rubbers (72-9 Games).

Credit goes to this dedicated group of players who have consistently given back to school sports, adjusting their training and work schedules to represent our school. The State Tennis trophy, with champions dating back to 1958, now proudly shows off the years 2024 and 2025 for St Mary’s College. This talented group of students has really made their mark in history.

A special thank you to our captain, Alicia Dale – what a way to leave school tennis, with a win in a state final! Best of luck, Alicia, in your future tennis endeavours. We hope to see you on the professional circuit in the near future.

Presentation Day K–12 Cross Country

On Tuesday 6 May, our students laced up their running shoes for the inaugural Presentation Day K–12 Cross Country Carnival at Soldiers Memorial Oval, Queens Domain.

With the wind at their backs, the SMC House spirit soared as both Junior and Senior School students tackled the course with courage, determination and resilience. Whether they decided to run, jog, walk or dance the distance, we were extremely proud of how our students supported each other and gave it their best, embodying the true spirit of what it means to be an SMC student. Well done!

While the races were in full swing, Presentation Day fun continued on the nearby ovals with games and novelty activities keeping everyone entertained, engaged and energised.

A huge thank you to our dedicated staff for organising this fantastic event, and to all the wonderful parents, carers and friends who joined us to cheer on each House!

Results to be shared soon.

JSSATIS Soccer | SMC 1/2 Green

In the last Fountain newsletter, which included a wrap-up of Term 1 sports, we featured photos of our JSSATIS Soccer: SMC 1/2 Blue and SMC 3/4 Green teams.

Though the JSSATIS soccer roster has concluded, I would like to acknowledge our other 1/2 soccer team: SMC 1/2 Green.

Each week, we had the pleasure of watching this team, coached by Luke Northeast. To witness the Year 1 and 2 students grow in skill and spirit while always smiling and playing with grit and determination was the best. It's no surprise that the team played this way, as Luke embodies the essence of the JSSATIS sport rosters:

'SATIS promotes physical, emotional, and social well-being by fostering and administering a quality sporting program that provides competition between schools in an environment that encourages participation, diversity, integrity, and sportsmanship.'

Thank you, Luke, for coaching and guiding this team of budding superstars.
