AROUND THE SCHOOL

NO HOT LUNCHES IN TERM 2
This is unfortunate, but without the helpers, the same people can't be expected to facilitate this every Friday. We will review again towards the end of term 2 as to whether they can go ahead in term 3. Thank you to the P & F who work tirelessly behind the scenes to get things done.
BOOK CLUB
Brochures went home to families last week. I will be closing orders for this edition on Friday 9th May. Orders via LOOP through Scholastics website. scholastic.com.au/LOOP
Sorry, no cash can be accepted for book club.
1/2'S ARE EXPLORING THE PAST
In 1/2 we are exploring the Past as part of our Integrated studies. Following our excursion to Coal Creek on Wednesday 21st May, Year 1/2 students are invited to wear something from the past in addition to their school uniform on Thursday 22nd May. We ask that they still wear their uniform due to it being a specialist day.
On Thursday 22nd May, we are inviting Grandparents and Special Friends to join us for some activities from 10am to 11am. We ask that each student only invite one or two special friends due to limited space.
3-6 CROSS COUNTRY
Friday 2nd May saw the 3-6 House Cross Country held on Mary MacKillop grounds.
The Cross Country was run on a crisp Friday morning. It was perfect conditions for an enjoyable and peaceful run. The students ran through the Mary Mackillop Catholic Regional College school grounds as well as through the farming paddocks surrounding the school. Many of our students commented on how they enjoyed the scenery and the challenge the course offered. Well done to the majority of our students who ran, jogged and walked the course. Every participant gave their best effort.
The first place winners will be presented their medal at the morning assembly on Friday 16th May. Parents will be notified by email. The Division Cross Country event will be held on Thursday 22nd May at Stony Creek.
DISTRICT ATHLETICS
Our Athletics Team competed at the District Athletics event on Tuesday 6th May. It was a very successful day for St. Laurence’s. All our students were competitive, supported each other and showed great sportsmanship. We’re always very proud of our students at these sporting events. Thank you to our very helpful parents who supported us with running the High Jump event and also to the parents who represented Little Athletics Leongatha.
Congratulations to Harlow Harris and Aiden Cook who were the Age Champions. Both Aiden and Harlow achieved the most points from their 3 individual events.
Aiden jumped a record height in the High Jump (1.56m) and is now the 12/13 boys high jump record holder. This is a huge achievement and a testament to all your hard work. Well done Aiden!
Once again St. Laurence’s won the Ian Brewster Shield! It’s a team effort so well done to you all!
THANK YOU
A Huge Thank You to Nutrien South Gippsland Livestock!
We are incredibly grateful to Nutrien South Gippsland Livestock for their generous donation to our P.E. department, which has allowed us to purchase two brand-new sets of portable goal posts! These will be a fantastic addition to our 9 x 9 football games as part of the Winter Sport Competition.
Thanks to this support, we’re now set up to easily offer and host two teams at a time in a round-robin format—keeping all players active, engaged, and having fun throughout the day!
Your support is helping us kick some real goals—thank you!
