Foundation

Last week was Education Week where we learned all about celebrating different cultures and the importance of every child feeling safe and welcome at school.
In Foundation we learnt about confidence and having a voice. This was explored during our Wellbeing sessions where we focused on how to make new friends and how to ask for help when we need it.
It has been noticed around the school that many Foundation students are always willing to say hello and greet others with a smile. Their growing confidence and positive attitude have made them wonderful members of our school community.
Open Morning
During our Open Morning on Monday, Foundation students took on the role of teachers as they engaged with their parents and carers in an interactive Mathematics session. They demonstrated their understanding of subitising through some of the games that we regularly play in class. It was wonderful to see the students so confident and self-assured as they shared what they have been learning in class.

We sincerely thank all the parents and carers who joined us—it was wonderful to have you in the classroom. Our Foundation students had a fantastic time sharing their games with you!
Buddy Session:
On Friday we had our First Buddy session of the Term, where students got to immerse themselves in the National Simultaneous Story Time book The Truck Cat.
The Truck Cat is a story about cats and humans, immigration and identity, and homes lost and found. The year 6 students assisted their buddies to complete activities that looked at what the story was about and how to relate it to our own identities. This provided the Foundation students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the story and understand that home can be everywhere we feel safe.
