AGENCY IN LEARNING — BUILDING SOCIAL ALLIANCES
Learning is not a solo endeavour. Human beings thrive in collaboration with others. At All Saints’ College we recognise that strong social connections play a key role in developing agency in learning. When students build meaningful alliances, whether through cocurricular activities or academic collaboration, they strengthen their ability to communicate, problem solve and navigate challenges together.
Participating in cocurricular activities allows students to develop teamwork, leadership and adaptability. These are all essential skills for lifelong learning. Similarly, working with peers on academic tasks fosters deeper understanding, as students learn to share ideas, challenge perspectives and support one another’s growth.
Parents can encourage this by discussing the value of teamwork, supporting involvement in activities beyond the classroom, and reinforcing the idea that learning happens best in connection with others. By building strong social alliances students gain not only academic confidence but also interpersonal skills that will serve them well in all areas of life.
We look forward to seeing our students continue to learn, grow and thrive—together.

Students who have achieved the required standard of the three components of reading, writing and numeracy in their Year 9 NAPLAN* are acknowledged as having demonstrated proficiency in using a range of ACSF Level 3 skills in that component, and will not be required to sit the corresponding OLNA component.
