Canteen Updates

In late March 2025, ASC invited parents, students and staff to complete a survey regarding their experience of the College Canteen, under the new management of Lisa Park at The Little Parry, and following the hugely successful transformation of Wanju Café in 2024 under Lisa’s management.

While the cleanliness of the Canteen, friendliness of staff, ease of online ordering and food quality were ranked highly, the biggest focus for improvement was identified as “value for money”, with comments suggesting the quantity of food was not aligned to the price being charged, rather than concerns about just the price.

Over the Term 1 holidays, the College has worked alongside The Little Parry to refresh the Canteen menu that will extend the variety and size of available options. The updated menu will now include small and large sized options for several dishes that will be priced accordingly, with a maximum price of $7.80.

Please note that the majority of our Canteen offerings are freshly prepared each day by The Little Parry chef. Based on the extensive feedback received, the Canteen will initially offer the following items in its Term 2 Menu:

  • Vegemite and cheese scrolls;
  • Cheesy garlic bread;
  • Arancini balls;
  • Chicken and vegetarian gyozas;
  • Mac and cheese;
  • Daily rolls including roast beef salad, chicken caesar, pumpkin pesto;
  • Fish and chip Fridays;
  • More gluten free options, including chicken burgers, lamb rogan curry, prawn and vegetable stir fried noodles.

Later in Term 2, the Canteen will introduce hot soup and rolls over the winter months.

Popular cold items such as sushi, cheese and crackers, muffins, yoghurt and sandwiches will continue to be available, with cookies returning by popular demand!

In our efforts to continually enhance the Canteen experience, we seek the ongoing support of parents (and students) to:

  • Ensure funds are always available on student cards (MSA). While the College took a more relaxed approach in Term 1 by allowing some purchases to be made when there were insufficient funds available on MSA, this is unsustainable from Term 2 so, we ask parents to regularly check and top up funds at least weekly;
  • Always have student cards on-hand when purchasing items. Damaged or lost cards can be easily replaced in Nexus-S at a cost of $10. Please note it may take up to 48 hours for a new card to become active.
  • Take advantage of the option to ban for your child the purchase of certain items within the MSA App;
  • Consider placing lunch orders online by 9.00am each day so that the students can “grab and go”, especially on busy Fridays!

We thank everyone who completed the survey for their time, feedback and suggestions for some exciting new menu ideas.  We invite your child to experience the new Canteen menu and see what’s on offer.
