JUNIOR School Update

Dear Parents/Carers and Students

Year 7 Update

Welcome back to Term 2! We hope all Year 7 students and their families had a relaxing and enjoyable break.

School Tours

Over the course of the start of the term, we have run a number of school tours for prospective students and their families. These tours were ably co-led by a range of students from across Years 7 to 12, who confidently shared their perspective on life as a student at Frankston High School. A special mention to Sarah, Ottilia and Tibbs who presented to groups of up to 250 about their experiences in Year 7 so far and their thoughts and feelings about the transition to high school. Thank you to Ms Samantha Cody, Ms Catherine Kyriakos, Ms Nat D’Ambra, Mrs Kath Judkins and Mrs Sharee Dew for organising the tour mornings, as well as Mr Joel McMahon, Ms Emily Sykes, Mr Jon Christie, Mrs Jess Bambridge and the Principal Team for facilitating tour groups. We are always proud to showcase our great school!

House Points

On the last day of Term 1, some of our senior leaders led our first ever Year 7 House Cup Competition. Students faced off in a range of challenges including trivia, ultimate frisbee and ‘minute to win it,’ with Tir-rer emerging as ultimate victors! So far this year, 328 of our Year 7 students have been recognised with house points for demonstrating our school values, amassing a total of 8085 points as a cohort! What a great start to the year!

Year 8 Update

I’d like to extend a warm welcome back to all our Year 8 students and families. I hope you had a restful and enjoyable Easter break. As we begin Term 2, our dedicated team remains focused on supporting every student to thrive and grow in line with our school’s vision, values, and pillars of Excellence, Aspiration and Community. A key focus this term is continuing to embed our core values of respect, responsibility, resilience and empathy in all that we do — both inside and outside the classroom. We are excited to highlight and celebrate the many examples of these values in action throughout the term.

This term is packed with exciting learning opportunities and experiences, including the Rubicon Camp, our Athletics Carnival, Geography Zoo Excursions, Cross Country, school sport, Maths Week, and the Year 8 Careers and Course Information sessions to name a few. These events not only enrich our students’ learning but also help build friendships, confidence and school pride. We encourage all of our students and families to make the most of all the wonderful opportunities that are provided here at Frankston High School.

We would also like to wish Mr Joel McMahon all the best as he takes family leave for the remainder of the term. In his absence, we are delighted to welcome Mrs Catherine Kyriakos into the role of Head of Year 8. Catherine brings great experience and enthusiasm to the position, and we know our students will be in excellent hands.

We’re looking forward to another successful and engaging term with our Year 8 cohort! As always, if you have any question, concerns or queries, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any member of the Year 8 team.
