At DCS we’re building more than just classrooms – we’re building opportunities, dreams, and a vibrant future for every student at Devonport Christian School.  Continuing our tradition of placing a Bible in the foundation of each of our buildings, Avé, Alice and Will (current Year 9 students) placed the first Bible in the foundations of our Year 9/10 building last week.

I saw you, Will and Avé over on the construction site. What were you doing?

Alice: We were putting the Bible down in the Foundations of the Year 9/10 Building.

How did you guys get that gig?

Alice: The other week we were talking about our Faith journey at the Gathering, and Mr Smit thought it would be cool for us to put the Bible in the Foundations of the new building.

What’s the Gathering? Is that what the Secondary Assembly is called?

Alice: It’s a pretty cool place if that’s your thing. We usually have three contemporary songs, that we can sing and dance to. We turn the lights down and worship in a contemporary style, in a mosh pit sort of atmosphere. We get pretty excited. Then there is a serious, reflective side - we listen to people’s stories and their testimonies I guess. We get to learn things that we can take into our own lives.

What’s the best thing about Year 9 so far?

Alice: There’s a lot more of a community feel this year, because we are doing more things with each other. We’re doing more talking about the real deep stuff, and I like that it’s different.

What are you most excited about with the new building?

Alice: I think it will be a pretty epic space. Having a new science lab and theory lab and more space. It’s going to be great to have more room to do things and having even more secondary students.

Thanks for that Alice. I’ll let you get back to your Duke of Edinburgh award work … good luck with learning the Spanish !

It's Nearly Tax Time!

Our new 9/10 Centre will consist of Science Laboratory and Theory Classroom, Food Technology Centre (Commercial Kitchen), Visual Arts Studio, Design Technology Hub and five General Learning classrooms and an open area community gathering space.

Contributions to our Devonport Christian School Building Fund are tax-deductible. Feel free to contact Ken Clarke our CFO if you would like to make a tax-deductible donation.

2026, 2027, 2028 Enrolments and Beyond

DCS Enrolments 2026-2030: What a joy it is to see the DCS community flourishing!

God continues to bless our school with strong interest from families seeking a Christ-centred education and we’re humbled to be receiving enrolment enquiries all the way through to 2030!

If you are already part of our beautiful DCS family and have younger children due to start in 2026, 2027, 2028 or beyond (or siblings for other levels including secondary), we would love to hear from you. We have already begun processing 2026 and 2027 enrolments, and we want to make sure our current families are well-supported and prioritised during this exciting season of growth.

If you have not yet completed an Enrolment Enquiry form, please go to our school website https://www.dcs.tas.edu.au/enrolments/ and click on the enrolment enquiry button to complete an enquiry form.

If you are unsure whether you have submitted an enquiry, please don’t hesitate to reach out at enrolments@dcs.tas.edu.au and we will check for you. We are here to help and we value journeying alongside you as parents in faith and learning.

As we begin welcoming new enrolments into our growing DCS family, if you know of any family, friends, or community members who may be looking for a Christ-centred, nurturing school community like DCS, we warmly invite you to connect with our Enrolments Team via the above email and communicate with us about the family you are connected with, or reach out directly to our Principal, Chad Smit. We would be delighted to walk alongside them when opportunities open for new enrolments.
