Upcoming Events for Students and Families

Big Kids Table

A friendly reminder that TONIGHT Wednesday 14th May is the parent information session for Big Kids Table. We will be gathering in the Jiloa Centre with hot drinks available from 6:45pm for a 7pm start. The evening will conclude at 8:30pm.

BKT has been engaged to assist staff in providing education and foster meaningful conversations on the topics of puberty and healthy relationships, with a specific focus on the question: "What does God say?"

At Devonport Christian School, we have always valued our strong partnership with parents, especially when it comes to providing sexual education to our students. Continuing our commitment to partnering with families we are excited to host a parent information session at 6:45pm, tonight, Wednesday 14th May. We invite you to attend this session to gain a comprehensive understanding of the content covered and the approach taken in delivering this important information. Due to the nature of the content, this is a presentation for adults only. Please click here to find out more.

Walk Safely to School Day

National Walk Safely to School Day is being held THIS Friday 16th May. This is a wonderful opportunity to gather as the DCS Community with our families and friends.

We will be meeting at the Splash carpark ready to leave at 8am and walking to school together via the walking track.  Once we arrive at school, Breakfast Club will be open for breakfast treats and hot drinks.

But wait…there’s more!

All parents who wish to stay on for assembly can catch the DCS Bus back to Splash! The bus will be leaving from the Secondary area after assembly from 8:45am to get you back to your car if you wish. Otherwise, enjoy the walk back along the Don tracks at your leisure.

All families are welcome to attend! As this is a community event it is expected that students will walk under the supervision of their families.

This event will be weather permitting. Families will be notified via Schoolbox and Facebook should we need to cancel.

We are looking forward to a great morning!

Primary Cross Country

All Primary students will be participating in the DCS Primary Cross Country NEXT Wednesday 21st May from 8.50am

The course will be conducted at DCS with students commencing on the Don Oval. Each year level will complete a specially designed course of varied lengths for their year level group.

Please ensure that on the day your child wears their P.E uniform. A house coloured t-shirt can be worn in place of the P.E t-shirt, and students should bring the following:

  • A healthy lunch

  • Spare clothes, shoes and socks in case they get wet and/or muddy.

National Volunteer Week - Thank You Morning Tea

At DCS we love and appreciate the many, many community members who volunteer their time at our school. DCS Community would love to celebrate all of our amazing volunteers during National Volunteer Week.

National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering and will be next held on 19-25 May 2025.

This special week highlights the important role of volunteers in our community.

No matter what volunteer role you have at DCS, we would love to have you join us on Friday 23rd May at 9am for a special morning tea celebrating our DCS volunteers.

Casual Clothes Day - Blue Tree Project

As part of their Semester One leadership project, Emily and Nick (both Yr 8) are inviting all students to wear blue themed casual clothes (for a gold coin donation) on Wednesday 28th May, with money raised going to the Blue Tree Project. Please ensure that casual clothes are appropriate with fully enclosed shoes to provide protection.  There will also be a canteen at lunchtime for any students who are interested.

The Blue Tree Project is a movement dedicated to changing the way we approach mental health.  The blue trees are a powerful symbol of hope, connection and awareness.  Blue Trees now stand across every continent of the world, including eleven here in Tasmania.

Primary Art Competition

This year's theme is... ‘COMMUNITY’

What type of art... Picture or 3D?

What style of art... Realistic or Abstract?

What aspect of community would you like to show in your artwork?

Ideas to help...

  • Animals which live in communities - ants, bees, dolphins, gorillas, elephants.

  • People living in communities – different places, towns or cities, other countries and cultures.

  • Feelings about being in community - sharing, love, feeling connected, feeling safe, belonging.

  • How do you feel when you think about being part of our DCS community?

  • What patterns or colours come to mind?

  • Your art needs to be inspired by the word community.

  • The artwork needs to be done by you, without parent help, computer help or tracing.

  • It can be 3D (sculpture) or a picture - no larger than A3.

  • All pictures need to be completed on paper or lightweight card (easier for hanging).

  • Each student can only submit one piece of art.

  • There will be a prize for each category winner for Kinder, Prep and each grade from Year 1 to Year 6.

  • You will need to collect and complete a submission form from your class teacher or Mrs Clark.

  • The form and your artwork need to be given to Mrs Clark by Friday 16th May.

  • All artworks will be on display in the art exhibition and for voting by judges and our school community.

  • Art competition entries will be part of our art exhibition, which is launched at our Primary Creative Arts Afternoon Wednesday 28th May 3:15 – 4:30pm.

Primary Creative Arts Afternoon

You are invited to our Primary Creative Arts Afternoon on Wednesday 28th May between 3.15pm-4.30pm.

This will be a wonderful afternoon celebrating the creativity of our primary students. All the art competition entries will be on display, as well as a display of some of this year’s primary artwork.   Stay for a short time or stay for the whole time. We look forward to showcasing our students' varied talents.
