SUSTAINABILITY NEWS

Gardening Club

The Gardening Club has been very busy in our gardens! Students dug out the beautiful, rich soil (worm castings) our worms have made for us, and topped up our garden beds with it. It was fun separating the worms from the soil and we found so many babies! That means our worms are very happy in our worm farm, so that is great.

We also planted carrot seeds, broccoli, bok choy and cauliflower in preparation for winter harvesting.

Stay tuned for some exciting news about harvesting time!

Well done, Compost Ninjas

Well done to our Compost Ninja team who collect our food scraps every day and feed them to the worms. By doing this, we save so much waste from going to landfill, helping to reduce methane gas, and therefore global warming. It is so good to know we are doing such a good job of saving our food scraps and turning them into great compost for our gardens!

Can you help?

Our gardens are struggling without steady rain and would love some volunteers to help water them. We water on Thursday when Ms Belinda does Gardening Club, but if any parents could tip a few watering cans on our veggies and flowers, that would be a great help! Please email Ms Belinda if you can help - bnechwatal@tcs.catholic.edu.au

Have a great week everyone! Thank you for your great efforts in helping us live in a way that is kinder to our environment!
