College Arts & Technology Evening

The  Arts & Technology Night held at the beginning of the month was a resounding success, showcasing the incredible talents and creativity of students across multiple campuses. The event celebrated the diverse skills of students from Morwell, Churchill, and University campuses and was an evening to remember. The variety of projects and performances on display highlighted the passion and dedication of the students involved.

 

From Art and Technology to Music, Media, Drama, and beyond, the night provided a comprehensive look at the wide range of subjects in which students excel. Attendees could experience everything from Cottage Craft and Film to Game Maker, Electronics, Woodwork, and Human Powered Vehicles. The event truly emphasised the depth of creativity within the school community.

 

One of the highlights of the evening was the series of captivating musical performances by talented students. A special thank you was extended to Kurnai Alumni – Azriel Halge, Bonnie Sykes, and Nathan Britt – who returned to their roots for a memorable performance. In a delightful twist, John de Souza joined the alumni for a stunning rendition of Elton John’s “Your Song,” which had the audience singing along.

 

Gumbuya World Excursion

On Wednesday, 11th December, students from across the College gathered for a fun-filled day at Gumbuya World, marking the end of another successful school year. The event was a perfect way to celebrate the hard work and achievements of the past months, as students enjoyed a day of relaxation, adventure, and sunshine.

 

The day was packed with excitement, as students took full advantage of Gumbuya World’s fantastic water attractions, including thrilling waterslides and refreshing swimming pools. The perfect weather made it an unforgettable day, with students laughing, splashing, and making lasting memories together.

 

Organisers and staff expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the day such a success. 

 

With the year coming to a close, the trip to Gumbuya World provided students with a well-deserved opportunity to unwind and celebrate their achievements before the summer break.

 

 

Cadets 424 Squadron 

The cadets of 409, 424, and 426 Squadrons marked the end of a successful year with a spectacular parade and cadet ball at RAAF Base East Sale. This event celebrated the dedication, achievements, and camaraderie of the Australian Air Force Cadets over the past year.

 

The parade was a highlight of the day, showcasing the discipline and commitment of cadets from all three squadrons. During the formal proceedings, each squadron recognized outstanding contributions by presenting their coveted Cadet of the Year awards. For 424 Squadron, the honor went to Aimee Oakman, whose exceptional efforts throughout the year earned her well-deserved recognition.

 

The celebrations continued into the evening with a cadet ball, where members, their families, and staff came together to reflect on the year's achievements in a festive and elegant setting. The event provided a wonderful opportunity to foster bonds among the cadets and celebrate their shared successes.

 

Congratulations to all cadets for their hard work and dedication, and a special acknowledgment to Aimee Oakman and the other Cadet of the Year recipients for their exemplary performance. Here's to another successful year ahead for the Australian Air Force Cadets!
