Welcome to our last newsletter for the year!
There has been plenty of excitement in the lead up to the end of the term, with whole school lunchtime dance competitions in the undercover area with Angela our music maestro, whole school chasey games, and various Christmas activities and end of year celebrations. Tomorrow we will end the term with a casual dress day. All students are asked to please bring a gold coin donation to support the work of FoodShare. Please also remember that school will finish at the earlier time of 2.30pm.
Today’s Graduation Ceremony also provided great excitement! Congratulations to all Year 6 students on their graduation and many thanks to Hayley and students for their organisation of the ceremony, which provided a very special walk down memory lane. We are so proud of them all, and are sad to say goodbye. Hearing them sharing their reflections today, however, left no doubt in our minds that they are all ready for the next step in their learning journey, and we wish them every happiness and success for the future.
This afternoon, students continued their celebration with a special lunch and a swim at the pool.
Sadly, this was also the final Year 6 graduation for some of our families. On behalf of all of us at Mount Beauty Primary School, I would like to acknowledge and thank these families for their contribution to our school community during their time at Mount Beauty Primary School. It is a privilege to have been part of your children’s learning journeys, and we wish you and your family all the very best for the future.
Last Thursday, the 12th December, the choir performed some carols for the residents at Kiewa Valley House. This was extremely well-received by residents, and the students did a great job at representing our school.
Tonight, the Spookie Ukies and Choir will again represent our school, when they perform at Carols by Candlelight. A reminder that students must be supervised by parents and be dressed in school uniform, with some Christmas bling (optional). Ukie students, please meet Amanda and Anthony at 7.50pm (to the right of the stage), while choir students are asked to please meet Bron and Amanda by 8.10pm, in the same location. Many thanks to Conrad, Emily, Amanda, Bron, Anthony and families for their support with this event.
Last Tuesday, students in Kinder- year 5 spent time in their 2025 classes. It was great to hear lots of positive comments about the day, and how much students and staff are looking forward to next year. A big thank you to staff for their ongoing commitment to providing a smooth handover and transition process into the 2025 school year.
Last Friday, our final assembly was held, led by Dave, Sophie and Mac. Many thanks to all who attended, to celebrate and acknowledge the achievement of our students over the year, as well as our many volunteers, who have contributed so much to our school over the year.
Our congratulations all those students who were recognised for consistently upholding our values, and thank you for the significant contribution this makes in helping to create a great school in which to learn, work and play.
I would also like to acknowledge and thank Linda Spaan for her generous provision of the Year 6 Resilience Awards, which were awarded this year to Elske and Mac, in memory of her sister Karen Emery, a former teacher, and her brother Kevan Thirtle. These awards will assist students with the costs of secondary school.
Our thanks also, to the Upper Kiewa Arts Group for again sponsoring our Art Awards. These were awarded to Bridie, Christian, Max, Gen and Eli, in recognition of their consistent effort and achievement in Art throughout the year.
As a school, we are deeply grateful for all the volunteer support we receive. On behalf of us all, I would like to thank all those individuals who have contributed so much to our school this year. In particular, we would like to thank those parents who have volunteered their time to assist in the classroom, on our camps, excursions, sporting events, School Council and other school activities and programs. Thank you also to Lucy for her ongoing support, working with students in the garden, and to Deirdre, OSHC and Red Cross, together with numerous grandparents and members of the broader community, who have all worked to provide our Breakfast Club, over the year. We really do appreciate all your efforts!
As we close out the year, I would also like to give my heartfelt thanks to our school and OSHC staff for the tremendous work they have done again this year, as we work towards continual improvement and providing the best outcomes we can for our students. A great deal of emotional and mental energy goes into their roles and, once again, they have given it their all. I have no doubt that they are all looking forward to some well-earned time to relax, recharge and spend time with their families these holidays.
Student academic reports are now available to view on Compass. Families are reminded that if this is your child's last year at Mount Beauty Primary School, please download and save all your child's reports, as these will not be available after the 31st December, 2024.
Please note that our office will be open on Friday 24th January and Tuesday the 28th January, for families to make Parent Payments and purchase uniform. All students, including Preps, will commence school on Wednesday 29th January 2025.
From Wednesday 5th February, Preps will have Wednesdays off, through until Wednesday 12th March, when they will commence full-time attendance.
Thank you for your support this year. We wish you all a safe and happy summer and look forward to seeing you in 2025!
