As the term finished up today, it is remarkable to reflect on how quickly the school year has progressed. It feels as though only yesterday we were welcoming staff and students back for the start of the year and now we are planning for our return in Term 2.
The term has been particularly eventful, with NAPLAN, incursions, Harmony Day, SRC elections, assemblies, parent conferences, excursions, cross country and a junior sport morning, just to name a few.
Thank you to all our community members for making this a productive start to 2025. We hope that you all take the time to rest and relax over the school holidays and we look forward to seeing you all back at school on Tuesday 22nd April.
This morning's Easter Parade was an amazing atmosphere to celebrate Easter and the end of our first term. Thank you to all of the families who supported our Easter Raffle, we were thrilled to have made $1763.15 which will go towards the front play ground near the Foundation entry gate. Congratulations to those families who won one of the hampers!
After I met with the new Student Representative Council (SRC) a few weeks ago, they had voted on a whole school free dress day as a fundraiser for Wildlife Victoria. Yesterday Clyde PS students raised $497 for this not for profit organisation. What a terrific effort by our community and a big thank you to our SRC representatives.
Each day I try to get out to the front gate, either before or after school. A particular shock to me, was how many students have been riding bikes and scooters to school without a helmet!
So as a school we have tried very hard to re-educate our families and students, by reminding them how important helmets are if an unfortunate accident was to occur, and also by rewarding students randomly as they enter and leave school with our Responsibility tokens, for their token boards.
I am pleased to say, that I have seen a big improvement, as a lot more of our students are wearing helmets regularly, so thank you to the parents who have supported and encouraged their children. There is just a small handful of students not wearing helmets and these seem to mostly be from our junior school. Hopefully 100% of our students have a helmet for Term 2.
Last Wednesday, was a very exciting morning for our junior athletes as we participated in our Junior Sports Morning. It was fantastic to see so many family members supporting their children on this special day. The students were involved in a range of activities including, vortex throwing, sack racing, target throwing, basketball dribbling and many more. We are so proud of the effort everyone put into this day. A special thank you to the parent volunteers who came along and helped the day to run smoothly. Thank you also to our Year 6 helpers who did an outstanding job of leading activities and supporting students to join in and have fun. I received many compliments regarding our Year 6 helpers and what a great job they did so they all should be very proud!
It was great to see the effort many of our students went to when dressing up in their team colours! Some ‘Team Spirit’ awards were given to those students who showed great sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the day by being positive and supporting their team members. Congratulations to the following students:
Foundation- Isabelle FD, Ellie FC, Abigail FC, Samarth FA, Lena FA, Athena FA and Nate FD
Year 1- Lola 1A, Gosa 1A, Kiana 1B, Chloe 1D, Lenny 1A, Ivie FA, Sargun 1C, Zac 1D, Cooper 1D
Year 2- Braxton 2A, Sophie 2A, Yami 2C, Logan 2A, Thomas 2A, Libby 2A, Makayla 2C, Sophie 2B
Thank you everyone for your big smiles and enthusiasm towards this great morning!
We are thrilled to announce that Mrs Chebbou, our Auslan teacher, is pregnant and expecting her first child in July. While this is sad news for us, we are thrilled for her and her husband.
We have also recently employed a Youth Worker, a classroom teacher for 5A and an integration aide, whom we will introduce to our community early next term.
Over the term we have had a number of items come up to the office which have not been labelled. Please ensure all items of clothing are labelled before returning to school next term, the holidays are a great time to refresh labels that may have faded or worn off, especially for hats, which will still be required for next term.
