Literacy

As the 5/6 students finished our novel study on 'War Horse', we watched the film and compared the two texts. We compared the book and film and used venn diagrams to show the similarities and differences we found.  Students also finished their writing pieces persuading readers that Horses should/ not have been used in World War One.

Maths

We have been exploring 3D shapes and measuring angles in the 5/6 area. To learn about the nets of 3D shapes, students were asked to plan and create a robot including size specifications and special features.  The effort they put into this task was amazing and is reflected in the results.

Discovery

This term students were investigating Leaders in Politics, Science and Technology, Social Justice and Environmental Activism. They researched a chosen leader and created a presentation either in a group or individually. On Thursday 3rd April they presented their learning to the other 5/6 classes.

Crazy Hat Parade

There were some great hats made for our Crazy Hat Parade. The community spirit and sense of fun in the school make our 5/6 area a great place to belong.

Camp

We're very excited to head off on our camp to Alexandra Adventure Resort early in Term 4! The details are all available in Compass and the deposit needs to be paid by Thursday, 24th of April to secure your child's spot. Thank you to the large number of parents and students who have already paid their deposit and given consent for camp. Camp is a great time for learning about ourselves and pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones so we encourage all students to attend.
