Hello from 1/2A!
We are so proud of the wonderful learning that has taken place this term and are excited to share some of the highlights with you!
Maths
Recently, our students have been exploring the concept of time! They have been developing their understanding of days, weeks, and months, as well as learning how different events connect to times of the day.
Through fun and engaging activities, students have been practicing:
In one of our recent activities, students explored the four seasons and created drawings to represent each one. They loved using their artistic skills to bring their learning to life!
Over the past two weeks, students have been writing about their families, communities, pets, and interests as part of their Discovery Project. They were particularly excited about a writing prompt that encouraged them to reflect on their proudest moments:
"I was most proud of myself when..."
As a class, we brainstormed what it feels like to be proud and discussed different moments that made us feel this way. Students then shared their ideas with a partner before writing and illustrating their proudest moment. After carefully editing their work, they published their final piece in their neatest handwriting. We were so impressed by their efforts and the confidence they showed in sharing their work!
On Tuesday afternoon, PVNPS hosted a fantastic Cultural Celebration event! Leading up to this special day, our Grade 1/2 students learned and practiced a Japanese-inspired dance, which they proudly performed in front of their peers and families. They did an amazing job!
After the performances, families stayed to enjoy a variety of activities, including games like ten-pin bowling and Jenga. Food trucks served up delicious treats, and families took part in a fun scavenger hunt. It was a wonderful afternoon that highlighted the rich cultural diversity within our school community. We are incredibly proud of all the students who participated and grateful to our families for joining in the celebration!
Wow! Term 1 has flown by, and now it's time for a well-earned break.
We hope everyone has a safe and restful holiday, and we look forward to another exciting term ahead!
