AFL Superkick Program 2025
Trafalgar Primary School has partnered with AFL Victoria to offer a 5-week After School Superkick program for all Grade 1 – Grade 6 students in 2025.
Superkick is a modified version of AFL for anyone wanting to get a feel for footy, without the pressure. You’ll learn new ways to play through skill-based activities in weekly sessions, then show them off in games straight after.
It’s a great introduction to AFL, especially for those who might be thinking about joining the Trafalgar Junior Football Club Under 8s, Under 10s, or Under 12s in 2025. However, it is also suitable for current or past players just looking to keep fit and play some footy with mates too.
This optional 5-week school-based program will be run outside of school learning hours (after school) at a cost of $55 per participant.
AFL Victoria will run sessions on the school oval from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, allowing students to attend directly after class on the following days:
Monday 24 Feb
Monday 3 March
No Superkick on Labour Day (Monday 10 March)
Monday 17 March
Monday 24 March
Monday 31 March
To participate all you need to do is register your child to the program via PlayHQ. A link/QR code directing you to the registration form can be found on the flyer.
We are thrilled to announce that players from the Collingwood Football Club will be visiting Trafalgar Primary School on Tuesday, 11 February! This is an exciting opportunity for students to hear from professional AFL players about their experiences, challenges, and what it takes to succeed in elite sport.
The visit will feature a 45-minute Q&A session in the gym from 1:45pm to 2:30pm. This is an optional lunchtime event for all students in Grades F-6. The players will answer questions from students, so in the coming days, classes will brainstorm and vote on their favourite questions. Selected students will have the chance to ask their questions directly.
To celebrate the visit, students will bring home a signed handout from the team.
Additionally, any students who bring Collingwood FC merchandise (no paper or other AFL team gear) will have the opportunity to get their item signed.
This will be a fantastic experience for our students, and we look forward to welcoming the Magpies to Trafalgar Primary!
The new school year has started, and music classes and instrumental lessons are underway in the TPS Music dept. Music classes this term have a focus on musical instruments and instrument families. All the students are enjoying getting their hands on musical instruments and creating music straight away.
All instrumental teachers have also started this week. Our 4 instrumental teachers all have vacancies, so, it’s not too late to sign up for the program and get your form in to begin extracurricular, individual lessons on a music instrument with a professional.
You can find a full description of the instruments we offer, photos and bios of all the teachers, and a digital instrumental music form here - TPS Music site/Instrumental.
You can also pick up a form from the school office or from the instrumental form letter box located just outside the music room. Once completed, return it to the front office or drop it in the box, and we’ll get started with lessons as soon as possible.
I have included photos and bios of all the TPS instrumental teachers below.

We're thrilled to announce that the Grade 6 tops have been distributed to our students! These special tops mark an important milestone in our students' journey, symbolising their leadership and accomplishments as they prepare for the next chapter of their education.
We hope wearing these tops fills our Grade 6 students with pride and serves as a reminder of the incredible achievements they've made throughout their time at Trafalgar Primary School.
As always, we're immensely proud of our Grade 6 students and can't wait to see them continue to shine in their final year with us.
In the first few weeks of 2025, our Junior School Councillors have met and planned two exciting fundraising events for the year ahead.
Our first fundraiser will take place on Friday, February 28th, with a casual clothes day, where students can dress down for a gold coin donation. The funds raised will support the Children’s Tumour Foundation, an organisation dedicated to assisting families affected by Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Some families in our school community benefit from the foundation’s support, making this cause especially meaningful. You can learn more about the foundation and the condition by visiting their website here: Children's Tumour Foundation.
Our second fundraiser will bring back the fun of the Easter Hat Parade! After the success of last year's event, we're excited to host it again on Thursday, April 3rd. Children are invited to create their most extravagant and outrageous Easter hats for the parade.
We will be collecting a gold coin donation, with all funds going to the Royal Children's Good Friday Appeal. For more details, visit: Good Friday Appeal.
More details about both events will be shared soon—what an exciting start to the year!
From your Junior School Councillors and Mrs. Sneddon.
