John XXIII Rowing Club

Dear Rowing Families

Welcoming Our New Rowing Coordinator – Claire Woolfitt

The John XXIII College Rowing Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Claire Woolfitt as our new Rowing Coordinator. Claire is no stranger to the John XXIII Rowing community, having coached our Senior Girls Squad from 2018 to 2022 and served as one of our valued Health & Physical Education Assistants from 2022 through to Term One, 2024.

Claire's journey in rowing began when she was just eight years old, convincing her local club to let her learn to row despite not being able to lift the boats. By age 10, she had taken up coxing and quickly became a versatile and sought-after coxswain, ready to step into any crew in need. Her passion and skill led to her selection as the cox for the Female Talent Identification Program, culminating in her first Nationals at the age of 14, where she coxed the winning Under 17 4+. Claire continued to excel, coxing both the Boy's and Girl's Youth 8s in subsequent years before transitioning into coaching.

With an impressive coaching career spanning nine seasons at Trinity College, six at St Hilda's, and three at Westies – including working with novice and senior men – Claire has built a reputation as a skilled and inspiring leader. In 2018, she joined John XXIII Rowing to coach our Senior Girls, making a lasting impact over four years.

Claire's deep connection to rowing and her long-standing relationship with our Club makes her the perfect fit to lead us into the next chapter. As she says, 'I’m excited to be returning in a permanent capacity and look forward to working with all the coaches and athletes.'

Please join us in warmly welcoming Claire back to the John XXIII Rowing community. We look forward to an exciting future under her guidance!

We invite everyone to register for the 2025 rowing season and ensure your place in what promises to be an exciting year. Please register by Monday, 9 December, using the link below. We look forward to another successful season ahead.
