Secondary

Dear Families

It is hard to believe that we find ourselves at the end of the school year. As the year draws to a close, I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our incredible Secondary School community. The dedication, support and enthusiasm demonstrated by students, staff and parents have made this a successful year of growth, learning, accomplishments and treasured memories. With the publication of Semester Two reports today, I hope that each student finds something to be proud of and something to focus on for growth next year.

I would like to take this opportunity to farewell staff who are heading off on leave, retiring or moving on to other schools and endeavours. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment, contribution, and care for students during their time at the College.

  • Staff embarking on leave: Dr Ylenia Casadio, Mrs Lana Gregory-Turner, Ms Carla Tripi and Ms Mia Van Kann.
  • Staff retiring: Ms Sarah den Haan, Mr Greg Moran and Mr Danny Platts.
  • Staff leaving for other schools and endeavours: Ms Julia Franz, Mr Jerram Gibson, Ms Sara Kononen, Mrs Claire Krieger, Mr Toby Lewis, Mr Andrew Osnain, Ms Maria Outtrim, Mr Damien Owen, Ms Susan Teo and Ms Catriona Woodall.

As we prepare for Christmas in this season of Advent, let’s use the holiday break to slow down, rest, appreciate quality time with friends and family and look forward to Christmas as a reminder of God’s love for us, and our love for one another. Wishing staff, students and families a peaceful and joyful Christmas and a safe and relaxing summer break. We look forward to welcoming students back to school in the new year.

2024 Companions Yearbook

The 2024 Yearbook was distributed to students today.

The youngest child in the family at the College receives the copy of the Yearbook. Year 12 students (without siblings at the College) will have their copy mailed to them.

The College will distribute the Year 10 and 11 students their Yearbook at the beginning of Term One.

Year 8 Herdsman Lake

On Tuesday, Year 8 students enjoyed an enriching day at the Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre, participating in a variety of educational and engaging activities that fostered both cultural and environmental awareness.

The day began with students immersing themselves in cultural awareness activities. They had the opportunity to explore traditional rock art techniques and learn about the significance of spears in Indigenous culture. These hands-on experiences were designed to deepen their understanding of Noongar traditions and the importance of respecting cultural heritage.

Following the cultural activities, students engaged in an environmental awareness session. They conducted a survey of the water quality at Herdsman Lake and searched for aquatic invertebrates, gaining practical knowledge about local ecosystems. This activity not only enhanced their scientific skills but also highlighted the importance of preserving natural habitats.

To conclude their day, all students participated in an orienteering course along the scenic paths of Herdsman Lake. This activity helped them develop navigation skills while enjoying the stunning natural surroundings. The orienteering experience was both fun and educational, encouraging teamwork and problem-solving.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the staff who helped organise this fantastic opportunity for the Year 8 students. Their dedication ensured a memorable day filled with learning and exploration at one of Perth's most beautiful natural sites.
