From the Principal Team
Tying up the ribbon of 2024
Once again, it was a delight to share the graduation evening with our Year 6 cohort. They have all demonstrated such growth, kindness, generosity and good humour over the years and we will miss them tremendously.
Last night, the wonderful team of parents who banded together to form the graduation committee, did an amazing job centred around the theme: 'Rising Stars'.
One of the messages I took from this theme was the idea that stars are not 'born' fully formed into our universe. In fact, like us, they grow over millions of years, collecting the gases and compounds that will eventually lead to nuclear fusion at which point, it bursts into existence.
Similarly, we cannot expect people to emerge as fully formed wonder beings. They grow and evolve over many years, bundling their experiences, challenges and knowledge into the star that will one day burst onto the scene.
One of the things I love about primary school in particular, is that children are given the space and time to grow. We see them evolve year to year, grappling with some things before eventually finding a path through the difficulty and turning it into a strength.
As we see off yet another cohort of well-grounded, intelligent, thoughtful and funny people, everyone at RNPS wishes them well in their future endeavours. We are so proud of who they are, who they have become and who they are going to be.
Community minded
A massive thank you to Livvy, Harvey and Sienna who ran a small Christmas crafts market from home on the weekend and thoughtfully decided to donate some of their profits to the school. What an amazing gesture!
We love the entrepreneurial and philanthropic drive and want to celebrate their efforts!
High Achievers
A long overdue celebration is needed for two of our highest-achieving students this year.
The ICAS competitions that run each year are an optional activity for students in Years 2 - 6. They are academic competitions in a range of subjects and students compete to see how they shape up against the rest of Australia and Asia-Pacific.
In 2022 and 2023, we had one student win an ICAS Medal, indicating they had achieved the highest score for their year level in all of Victoria.
In 2024, we are thrilled to celebrate TWO students winning ICAS Medals!
Congratulations to Claudia Bradbury for achieving the highest score in Year 5 in Victoria for English.
And an equally massive high-five to Aniq Jan for achieving the highest score in Year 3 in Victoria for Science.
It is a massive endorsement of the hard work and dedication these students put into their studies and they can be extremely proud of their efforts. Well done.
