PE Program Update

My name is Laura Negri, and I am very excited to have recently joined John Paul II as the new Physical Education teacher. Over the past two weeks, students from Prep through to Year 6 have jumped straight into a soccer program. Our focus is on building fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork, while also encouraging confidence and enjoyment in physical activity. For the younger years, this looks like fun movement games that develop balance, coordination, and ball control. As students progress through the year levels, they are applying these skills in modified games and small-sided matches that promote decision making, strategy, and cooperation. It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm from the students, and I am looking forward to helping them grow in both their sporting ability and love of movement over the coming weeks.

Athletics Carnival – Save the Date!

Our 2025 Athletics Carnival will be held on Wednesday 15 October (Week 1, Term 4). This will be a fantastic day for all students, with opportunities for those aiming to qualify for interschool competition as well as plenty of fun events where everyone can contribute and earn valuable House points. From running, jumping, and throwing events to novelty and team-based activities, there will be something for every student to enjoy. Parents and families are welcome to support the students on the day. Further information, including the full schedule and event timings, will be sent out towards the end of Term 3. Please remember to gather House colours and get ready for a day of school spirit, competition, and community celebration.

Kind Regards
