Our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Focus for Weeks 7, 8 & 9
Father's Day Activities
Our students enjoyed some Father’s Day activities and made some bags for their dads or special people. I hope Sunday 7th was enjoyed by everyone!
Reading and Writing in Years 1 & 2
At the beginning of Term 3, students in Years 1 & 2 explored different types of poetry and learnt how to write their own poems including acrostic poems, shape poems, and free verse poems. Students practiced using poetic devices like rhyming, alliteration, onomatopoeia, similes and imagery to create their poems. Students were inspired to write their poems about their friends, favourite ice-cream flavours, nature, villains and superheroes, seasons and favourite fruits.
Currently, students are now learning about procedural texts and how to write different types of procedures such as recipes and how to do simple tasks. Students have been practicing writing instructions in sequential order and with an imperative verb. Students have participated in cooking activities including making vegemite sandwiches, fairy bread and macaroni cheese.
Bendigo Discovery and Technology Centre
On Tuesday 2nd September we went to the Bendigo Discovery Centre. The first thing we did was the vertical slide. Some people went down it, other people just watched. We had to take our shoes off and put a jumpsuit on. Then we had to hold onto a metal bar and hang like we on monkey bars. The lady counted to three, then we let go and slid down. I didn’t want to go down!
When everyone went down the slide we had free time. There was a rocket ship, mirror maze, ramps and a real lizard.
The next activity was the workshop. We had to make random things out of paper, then we put them in a wind tunnel, and they would either fly, hover, stick or fall. If the paper sticks to the side, then you put the paper in the stick side. We were sorting the designs to see what the paper needed to look like to fly or hover.
Next was the planetarium. Some people sat on bean bags; the others sat on chairs. We looked at the roof and the lady moved the thing; it was like we were in space. We learned about all the planets. It was really cool! The planetarium was my favourite thing.

On Tuesday 2nd September we went to the Bendigo Discovery and Technology Centre. It was very fun. We had to wear overalls on the Vertical Slide. It was very high, fast and scary. I had a try. It was fun.

Our class went to the Bendigo Discovery Centre. First thing we did there was go on the vertical slide. I didn’t go on the vertical slide; it was too scary. Lots of other people didn’t want to go on it either.
After that the lady who works there said we had fifteen minutes to do anything we wanted. There was a mirror maze, ropes and other cool things.
When we were finished, we went to the wind tunnels. We had to create a prototype from paper that would wither hover, fall, float or stick to the wind tunnel.
Then we went to the planetarium, it was so cool! The lady who worked there told us all about planets and different kinds of stars.
Finally, it was time to go. We got on the bus and drove back to Seymour. It was an amazing day.

My class travelled in a bus to Bendigo Discovery and Technology Centre. First, we went to the Vertical Slide. We had to pop some special clothes on and climb up a lot of steps. I was scared because I have a terrible fear of heights. Sadly, I did not go down it but I reckon I could have gone down, but I was just too scared.
