Our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Focus for Weeks 7, 8 & 9
Term 3 Week 6 – SWPBS Focus: I Use Respectful Language
As we conclude our SWPBS focus on using respectful language, we commend all students for embracing this important aspect of our school culture. At Seymour College, we are proud to see our core values — Respect, Inspire, and Excel — reflected in the daily actions of our students.
Our Special Education students, consistently demonstrate these values by engaging positively with both peers and staff, using respectful and inclusive language, and helping to create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for everyone.
Their actions remind us of the power of kindness, inclusion, and thoughtful communication in building strong and respectful relationships across our school community.
Well done to all students for leading by example and making Seymour College a place where everyone can thrive!

Secondary Southern Region Athletics
On Thursday 4th September, some of our Special Education students made their way to Shepparton for our Athletics carnival, along with students from mainstream.
We arrived just before 10:00 am and it was a mad rush to get set up and get students to their first event. Some of the running had already started, which was 1500m. The first events that we were in, were shot put, in which we had a number of students signed up for. Then was 100m, 800m and 200m in running and most of the Special Education students competed in this.
It was freezing as they were waiting for their races, but they waited patiently and couldn’t wait to get started. As we compete under Mutliclass, mainstream students race were before us, so we could watch how well our school teammates went and cheer them on.
All in all, everyone had a great day, we supported each other, ribbons were won, and we can’t wait to progress to the next level.
Green Room Report
At a recent Special Education assembly, students from Green Room shared some of their literacy learning.
They have been exploring the letter Q and took part in some fun craft activities to help them recognise the letter, practice its sound, and develop their fine motor skills.
Students shared their colourful quilt and their quail craft, both made using the letter Q, which highlighted both their creativity and learning.
Reading in Blue Room
This term, the Blue Room Students have continued working towards developing their reading skills with growing confidence and enthusiasm.
They are learning to enjoy stories, explore different types of texts, and make connections between pictures and words. Through guided reading, shared storytelling, and independent practice, students are building their knowledge of letters, sounds, and some sight words.
Recently we made our first visit to the library which turned out to be a great success. The students have enjoyed visiting the library every week after this first visit and they are practicing independent reading.
Through this experience the students are also learning to talk about what they read, sharing favourite parts, predicting what might happen next, and asking thoughtful questions.
With regular opportunities to practise reading at school and at home, students are steadily becoming more fluent, engaged, and confident readers.
