The Arts and Technology Domain

What a term! It has been fantastic to see the high-quality work from students in both the Art and Technology spaces. As teachers, it is great to see students embrace their own growth and creativity and we are proud to share the following student work with the College community.

Semester 1 Student Art Exhibition

In Week 2 of this term, the Carole Bullock Gallery came alive with creativity as we hosted our Student Art Exhibition with artworks created during semester 1. The showcase featured a wide range of artworks from students across all year levels, highlighting the talents of those in Visual Art, Photography, and Visual Communication Design.

Visitors enjoyed a diverse collection of works, including expressive monoprints by our Year 7 students inspired by Where the Wild Things Are, as well as a selection of paintings, drawings, and sculptures from the VCE Art Creative Practice program. These senior pieces reflected original, self-directed themes and concepts. Other works across various mediums—photography, digital art, lino prints, and more—were also proudly on display.

The exhibition ran alongside course counselling sessions in Week 2, and we were thrilled that many students and their families were able to visit the gallery before or after their appointments to celebrate the artistic achievements within our school community. Throughout the week, selected artworks were also showcased on the school’s TVs, allowing even more students to engage with the exhibition.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our Art Captains, Keira Hei-Reedy and Lexi Hodge, for their thoughtful contributions to the curation, setup, and pack-down of the exhibition. We also would like to thank the Art Club members who helped with the pack-up process.

Finally, a big thank you to every student who submitted their work. Congratulations on your incredible creativity and effort—we can’t wait to see what you produce next!

Year 7 Art Class exploring, creating and making

Last week our Food Technology students in year 9 brought the world to our school kitchen with an International Food Buffet. As part of their learning about food traditions and cultural heritage, each student researched and prepared a dish representing their own background or a culture meaningful to them. The result was an incredible spread of flavours, colours, and aromas from across the globe.

From handmade biscuits to aromatic curries, rich pastas to vibrant salads, students proudly showcased their culinary skills while sharing the stories behind their dishes. This experience allowed the class to explore the connections between food, culture, and identity, fostering respect and understanding of our diverse backgrounds.

Year 7 students completing their Key Tags and starting their Pencil Boxes

On Wednesday the 17th of September the school hosted its annual Music Concert. It was a fantastic night of music from the school’s many ensembles and bands. Year 12 students were also able to play two repertoire works from their upcoming VCE performance exam recital. It was a great display of musicianship, hard work and determination. Thank you to the Mr Couche for hosting the night and to the instrumental team (and student teachers) for your dedication and hard work in preparation for the night.
