Science

Throughout Term 3, our science classrooms have been active with practical investigations and new topics.
Year 7 students began by using separation techniques to investigate mixtures and have since moved on to exploring forces through experiments.
Year 8 completed their cell assessments and are now considering how cells interact to form body systems, using models and demonstrations to visualise these processes.
Year 9 launched into their “Origins and Exploration” unit, while earlier in the term they extended their chemistry skills by testing the pH of household substances and linking results to everyday contexts.
Science Week was a highlight, offering lunchtime quizzes, prototypes trialled in a wind tunnel through our partnership with Casey Technical College, and the always-competitive Periodic Table Challenge. Congratulations to Methmi Godage (118), with Kiana Mittal (56) as runner-up, and honourable mentions to Callum Chalmers and Aaron Aloyts (51).
Our year 12 Biology students concluded their excursion program with a visit to Melbourne Zoo, examining evolutionary relationships through primate skulls and skeletons before observing the animals themselves.
As the term closes, year 12s are encouraged to set clear study plans as they prepare for their final exams.
We wish all students and families a safe and restful holiday break and look forward to building on this momentum in Term 4.
