2025 School Theme - Why Team, Why Team Westbreen
Principal’s Message
Dear Westbreen PS Families,
What a huge week it has been for our wonderful school. It was a privilege to see all the students perform on Thursday night and do such an outstanding job. The joy and excitement felt by everyone in the venue was so pleasing and will be an experience we all remember for a long time.
SCHOOL CONCERT: “Music can take you places”.
I wanted to take the time to say a huge thank you to everyone who did their bit to make our 2025 school concert such a success. The students were so well prepared and knew all their performances, which created a wonderful spectacular. There are a couple of people who need to be mentioned as the concert does not happen without their time, effort and energy. Firstly, thank you to Ricky Nolan for organizing our positions at the venue and ensuring the dismissal process was as smooth as possible. Secondly, thank you Simon Dooner for everything that you were able to do to make the show what it was. We truly appreciate everything that you did, and we are lucky to have you as part of Team Westbreen.
Bunnings Sausage Sizzle (Coburg)- Saturday 30th August
What a way to finish week 6. The Bunning’s BBQ was another success, despite some very difficult weather conditions, and we had such a great turn out from the community. I wanted to take the time to thank the staff and community members who gave up their own time to be present at the event. It was great to have such a great turnout and have so many people put their hands up to support. The list below are the amazing volunteers who supported the BBQ and made it such a success. Once again, thank you for being part of the day.
Regan Jamieson, Rachel Davies, Ella Jamieson, Bec Hay, Zoe Nathan, Ken Parfett, Olivier Brunel, John Dimas, Chris Ritchie, Brett Tamburrino, Charlene Landvogt, Nick Maguire, Mick Preston. Rani Cartwright, Tim Gialelis, Kim Gibson, Chris Biggs, Jill Petrie, Amelia Potter, Angelic Kemsley and Atika Tik
Father’s Day Stall
Our annual Father’s Day Stall will be held on Thursday 4th September. We would like to thank our Parents and Friends Committee members for their ongoing support in organising our stall in advance. Please support the Father’s Day stall by providing some loose change so your child can purchase a small gift for their dad, grandfather, or another special person. Please note that each child will be able to purchase a maximum of three gifts to ensure there are enough gifts for all our wonderful dads and/or caregivers.
Year 3/4 Camp
Our wonderful year 3/4 students will be heading off to camp at Lady Northcote on the 8th of September and will return on the 10th of September. It is such an exciting time for all students and teachers as camps create so many opportunities to make lasting memories. I know the students will do an outstanding job representing Westbreen Primary School and we cannot wait to hear all about it.
We Want Our Parents/ Caregivers/Guardians to Tell Us What They Think!
The 2025 Parent/Caregiver/Guardian opinion survey is currently open to families. Individual links to the survey were sent last Monday to families. We would appreciate it if you
could find the time to do the survey, as it supports our school's continued reflection on practices impacting student academic and wellbeing outcomes.
Important Reminder: Planning for 2026
This is just a reminder that parents can access the school enrolment form on the Westbreen Primary School website (westbreenps.vic.edu.au). During opening hours, they can also visit the school office to collect a 2026 enrolment form or speak with Mrs. Kerry, our Community & Enrolments Officer. We encourage all future enrolments to complete the paperwork as soon as possible. This includes current WPS students with siblings who will attend their first year of primary school next year.
Upcoming Parent Workshop – “Keep Safe Online”
Save the date: Monday 15th September - 7.00pm to 8.00pm
This workshop for parents/carers by ThinkUKnow Australia provides a balanced perspective of technology, providing information on both its benefits and its challenges.
Topics included within the presentation are specifically aimed at educating and increasing awareness about children being online, including avoiding inappropriate contact, online grooming, self-generated content and how to get help.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Wishing all our dads, carers and father figures a very happy Father's Day!
