F/1/2 CLASSROOM

Welcome back to what promises to be another wonderful term of fun, laughter, and learning! The year has certainly been whizzing by, and with just a few weeks left, we plan to make the very most of each day. Our InitiaLit and MiniLit programs will continue daily, with the wonderful support of Laura and Hailey, ensuring every child receives targeted and engaging literacy learning.
In Inquiry, we are exploring Earth and Space Science, developing a deeper understanding of how weather affects us, how weather and climate change Earth’s systems, extreme weather events, human impact on the climate, and the importance of caring for Earth’s precious resources.
In Religion, our first topics for the term include We Are Special and Our Call to Mission. As we move closer to the end of the year, we will explore Celebrating Jesus and Advent – Preparing for Christmas.
In Mathematics, we begin the term learning about location, before revisiting counting and place value, and finishing the term with a deep dive into data and how we can collect, use, and understand it.
This term is sure to be jam-packed with rich learning experiences and joyful moments. As always, please feel free to reach out at any time throughout the term, for clarity, a chat, or just to pop in and say hello!
Building Foundations
Please be advised that throughout the term there will be transition mornings in the F/1/2 classroom to support our incoming 2026 Foundation students. These sessions provide a wonderful opportunity for all students to become familiar with changing expectations and to begin stepping into their next stage of primary school life with confidence.
Regular learning will continue on these days, with only small adjustments to timing and transitions between tasks to ensure our new students feel comfortable and supported.
We began this process on the final day of Term 3, and the F/1/2 students were incredibly respectful and welcoming, a true credit to this wonderful cohort of learners.
Pre-Service Teachers in F/1/2 This Term
This term we are fortunate to welcome two La Trobe University pre-service teachers into our F/1/2 classroom as they complete the final stages of their Teaching and Learning degrees.
From Weeks 1 to 4, we welcome Macey Auld, who is currently in the consolidating phase of her studies. Macey also works as an Education Support Officer in Nagambie and comes highly recommended by her colleagues and principal. We are delighted to have Macey join our learning community and know she will continue to grow and learn within our positive and supportive environment.
In November, we look forward to welcoming Natasha Talbot, who is completing the graduating phase of her teaching degree. Natasha brings a deep passion for working with children and has recently undertaken six weeks of volunteer work in a small school in South Africa, demonstrating her commitment to education and equity. In addition, Natasha works in disability support, assisting individuals to access their daily needs and engage socially with care, connection, and dignity.
We wish both Macey and Natasha every success during their time at St Mary’s and know they will be warmly embraced by our wonderful school community.
